Ignatzmice is shutting down

Post by Balou »

Ignatzmice.com will be shutting down 20 October. Here is the post from the admin if anyone is interested.

Today is a sad day.

We believe we owe you all an explanation, although our first impulse had been to remain silent. (We changed our minds about the keeping silent, Wim! :)

We've spent the last several months trying to make the business behind Ignatzmice sustain itself, and we've reached the brick wall. We just weren't able to raise the money needed to keep Ignatz alive in these difficult economic times. We sought out buyers, spoke with a number of potential investors, and pitched several last-ditch creative efforts, all without success. (We were successfully scammed by a few potential partners though, and congrats to them!)

Ignatzmice.com will shut down on Oct 20, 2009.

There's one thing we've been very proud of: the many brilliant contributions to this board. We feel honored and humbled to have been able to host such a dynamic, warm, and wonderful community. The kindness, generosity, and support shared among members made it a community in the truest sense of the word, and one that we have loved being a part of for these past 14 years.

We wish we could have found a way to leave the site running for the benefit of the amazing folks who have made Ignatzmice what it is, and we have spent sleepless nights trying to figure something out, all to no avail. We're sorry to have let you all down.

To say we're sad about all of this would be an understatement, but the situation is what it is, and we're at the end of the line. We bid you goodbye, Ignatzmicers, and good luck in 2009 and the future.

The most entertaining thing about that site is reading the suckers who go on and on about their favorite hookers. Other than that...meh...

Post from Ignatzmice...

Dear friends

Your show of support is breathtaking! Thank you so much.

It looks like we're going to be rescued---several offers are now on the table.

The best one involves us staying who we are (with the resources for some needed improvements, long overdue)---the worst one involves the site undergoing a lobotomy. You can probably guess which one we favour:-)

I will keep you posted as things progress.

Best to all.

A bit of a shady web site I looked at once, about 10 years ago. Never been back there since. It's also badly designed too, from a web design perspective.
