Rock Hard Bud?

Picked up a half oz. yesterday. No idea of the strain, the guys never know around here which is frustrating. Anyways, the buds are of a decent size and pretty pungent, however the buds themselves are rock hard! Literally having to pick bits off with a fingernail. Never seen anything like it!

Would this suggest anything untoward, or is it just the way it's been cured? Obviously if it's been sprayed or something I don't want to smoke the rest of it, I'll take it back and kick off.

maybe left in a baggy and fell under couch and got compacted? if it tastes good with a nice high i would smoke anything

you can take weed back? im somewhat cool with my dealer but if id ask to take weed back because i didn't like it i doubt id get a very welcoming reaction. now if the weight was off then he'd prob drop by with the difference in money or weed the next time i picked up a sack.

Could be contaminated.. put a tiny bit of bud between your teeth... does it crunch?

Is the weed like rock?.This is usually down to the way it was brought in to the country.Very very compressed and the deals look shite .you get a lot of it up here and a lot of people like it because its strong .They dont realise that because it is so compressed you are actually putting a lot more in.Do the test like suggested and see if its gritty.
Without looking at it i would say its just commercially grown weed usually makes an appearance when theres not much about "pumters weed " we call it, should be allright

sometimes that can happen if the bud was wet and carried in a pocket which got squashed a bit

Tried the 'Taste Test' and all seems fine, and it's having the desired effect so I'll carry on!

The buds aren't overly compressed, I'm starting to think that they're maybe just old or something.

And yes, if there was anything untoward with the deal it would be going back. I'm on pretty good terms with my dealer, so if something wasn't right he'd hear about it!

Used to get stuff like this, allegedly shipped in from Canada. I was suspicious of it at first, never seen bud so hard. But i think its fine. Goodf stuff it usually was too. Think it just must be the way its compressed for shipping. Really looks like nothing when you buy 5g of it. But then you weigh it and its fine.

I had a nice sample of some really tight rock hard nugs. Just a really tight indica with a semi sweet taste. Very very numbing. Great stuff.

A few year ago someone I know bought some Pink Kush from a Mail order supplier. Nice hydro, could have done with abit more flushing, but fucking strong smoke. That stuff had been vacuum sealed, and looked very small, but was incredibly dense and was hard to break up, even with a metal polinator grinder. I was instant messaging the guys and they said the buds lost half the volume when they were vac sealed, and even sent me a pic of 2 8ths, one vacuumed and one fresh, both on scales showing 3.5... just goes to show, you need to weigh what you buy... as long as its been dried I;m happy... if its coming accross the atlantic then they pay for volume more than weight... its charged by the shipping container........ sorry for the long post, I'll read it tommorow and see if makes any sense.... jst a lil bit fucked up. x

Some strains are just prone to very tight buds. I really love it when I find these strains. Zenith from Dutch Flowers is like this. I always pick some up when I'm in the area. Great stuff in my book.
