Maastricht coffeeshop situation

First of all hello to everyone on the board. This is my first post. I travel from US to Maastricht once a year for about a two week visit. I have been doing this for several years and I always enjoy Maastricht and bike riding into Belgium Ardennes as well as having a good smoke.

I follow the Dutch news with a keen eye and I am aware of the Maastricht Mayor proposal to change the local coffeeshops into "members only". Can someone tell me how serious of a threat this will be for myself if I return next year to Maastricht and try and purchase gear? My experiance tells me that a "members only" rule will only create more of an illegal market.

My next visit will most likely be several months away and I will continue to follow this board and the news to see what is going on. I fly into Schipol so if Maastricht becomes "members only" I can simply make a stop in Amsterdam and purchase enough gear to hold me while I am in Maastricht but I am in hopes that such steps will not be needed and I will be able to buy in Maastricht.

Might already be in force, I stopped following it as the thought of it reaching full on ban gave me a head ache. check some of the other threads on it, there are plenty in the coffeeshops and cannibis section.
