Christmas in Amsterdam

Post by CitySlicker »

Hi!
We just booked tickets to Amsterdam for December 34- January 2, would really appreciate any info about how coffeeshops are open on Christmas! Also any good tips for things to do in Amsterdam around the holidays would be great!
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the December and January Whos In Town pages.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/profi ... le&u=31999

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

Coffeeshops will be open on Christmas day. Your big event will be New Years Eve.

Enjoy

iv never beento amsterdam ON Christmas but iv been close..i was there from like the 19th or 20th-the 23rd or 24th of December 2007. The only shop that closed during my stay was grey area as jon i believe went back to the states and adam mentioned he was heading to the uk. other than that i dunno. my only advice is to pack warm clothes and an adequately thick/warm winter coat.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

I have never been on the 34th of December

Cold Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!

You will have a blast but just make sure you stock up incase you have trouble getting a bud on christmas day, should be okay during the rest of your trip.

Things to do well there is a bit of toking and you should be able to go to the zoo. Dunno about nightlife as i am a non drinker 8)

The sight of the filthy, mentally ill polar bear, swinging its head back and forth, hour on hour saddened me to my core and I vowed never to pay my money to the Artis zoo again...

I have spent many Christmas's in the dam and it really is lovely. Quiet (most of the tourists are gone), but nearly all the coffeeshops are open. Beautiful (and dangerous) if it snows. Watch how busy it gets as new years eve approaches and then the madness of dam squ at midnight! Wow...
