Large dose truffles, same effect as moderate dose Hawaiians?

Post by Happy User »

Can a large dose of truffles (Philosopher’s Stones) produce the same psychoactive effects as a smaller dose of Hawaiians?

I understand that all magic mushrooms contain the same psychoactive agent, psilocybin, and that different species of mushrooms differ merely in the amount of psilocybin they contain. (By analogy, both vodka and beer contain alcohol, but you need to drink a lot more beer in order to experience the same effects, because beer contains a lot less alcohol per volume, compared with vodka.)

I believe the answer to my question may be ‘yes’, but I am aware of at least two complications:

First, part of the psychoactive effect of mushrooms may result from psilocin (not psilocybin). Since psilocin and psilocybin may have different effects qualitatively, and since psilocin and psilocybin exist in different proportions in different species of mushroom, the psychoactive difference may be one of quality and not merely quantity.

Second, the effects of magic mushrooms are strongest on an empty stomach, so perhaps the greater volume of truffles (or of their non-psychoactive contents, to be specific) would limit the effect by filling the stomach. (By analogy, it is difficult to get drunk on beer if you spend all your time urinating its water content.)

I commonly ate 20 to 30 grams of Hawaiians, when it was legal to do so. I have tried moderate doses of truffles without experiencing sufficient effects. If I can increase the effect through quantity, and if truffles remain legal in the Netherlands, then I might like to go there again in order to use very large doses of truffles.

I would be grateful for your advice.

i found the truffles to be a totally different type of experience than mushrooms, so i think my answer would be 'no, the effects would not be the same'

and yes an empty stomach is my way to go

enjoy whatever you get up to ...

It´s not only a question of the dose. So different Types or different strains of mushrooms have their own unique kind of trip.

The explanation for this phenomena is, that there are not only different concentrations of alcaloids in the various strains - even the kind of alcaloids and the balance between them are different. And there can´t be any greater difference between Psilocybe Tampanensis (Truffels) and Copelandia Cyanescens/Psilocybe Tropicalis (Hawaiians).

Ther are 2 - 4 alcaloids contained in Mushrooms which are responsable for the psychedelic effects: Psilocybin, Psilocin, Baecystin and Nor-Baeocystin.

To find more stuff to read about just have a look on erowid.org

A brief view:
World Record Psilocybin-alkaloid Content #
Perhaps the most striking element of this analysis is the fact that the report found a higher total psilocybin-alkaloid (psilocybin and psilocin combined into a single measurement) content than any previous published analysis.

To briefly summarize some of their results:

Mushroom Type Percent Active Alkaloids (Psilocin + Psilocybin)
Compost grown Psilocybe [Stropharia] cubensis 0.5-0.9 percent
Compost grown Panaeocus {Copelandia] cyanescens : 0.5-2.95 percent
Psilocybe tampanensis sclerotia 0.3 percent

my method with something new is to try a little and see how it goes ... then i know by how much to scale things up for real

dosage depends very much on how you are at the time (set) and what is happening (setting) ... and these vary all the time

so dip a toe first ... then dive in

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I can see that the answer to my question is definitely 'no'. I might use Tampanensis again on my next trip to the Netherlands, but I won't expect quantity to make up for quality.

good moderate strong shrooms will always be a 1g (dry) dosis for me for a nice trip. 1,5 will give me the total freak-out and beyond that...no idea havent tried more because the one time we had 1,5 was soooo nice, I dont think I would like "more"

Concerning the dosage of tampanensis I´d recommend to eat 1,5 - 2,0g of dried truffels. That´ll be enough for a full trip.
