obviously this is subjective, and i definitely agree some of the new mixes are a little on the 'strange' side, but chocolope tasting like ass? Dunno about that man! i love the taste of it! each to their own though ehUSBONGLORD wrote:,some of the new weed combinations (strawberry chocolope),kinda make me wanna hurl,,,lol...both taste like ass...together

Awesome reporting HD! It's really making wish we could teleport back there *sigh*.
Loved your pics of the street art, BTW.
Oh, and that Strawberry Kush on Green Place's menu sounds effin' amazing. Damn...gotta get over there!
Keep up the good work! It's good to hear you had fun and made it back to the Northeast safe and sound.

Thanks gang for the replies...just a quick note, the Strawberry Chocolope was, by no means, offensive. A sweet, subtle berry/cocoa taste and devastating high was all it was guilty of!
You wanna talk offensive taste? Who here remembers Sensi Seeds "GARLIC BUD" or "MAPLE BUD"? So pungent the Garlic bud was, it turns my stomach at the remembrance!
Alright, I'll kick back into report mode shortly

Sittin' here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, ready to resume!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2009 (Continued)
Refreshed from a brief nap, we head out with some of our leftovers pre-rolled for the stroll and head "out" wherever that is! Crossing the Amstel after Rembrandt Square we wander down a newly closed road and discover:
SEVILLA

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0512.jpg
The Moroccan chap behind the counter was quiet at first but quickly warmed up and began chatting. We noticed two Lebs on the menu (both Red AND Blonde) but only the Red was in stock at the moment so it was a pretty easy choice at 10 euro for 1.5 g:

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0519.jpg
We grab our cafe to go and head for the outside seating while the weather is nice:
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0517.jpg
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0516.jpg
The Leb is NICE...fresh smelling in the bag, it's hard but feels fresh and warms up a bit with a little manipulation to manageable little chunks. The hasj looks like a geological rock project with its clearly defined two-layers sediment style. The taste is sharp and fresh quickly reminding me of the "third" hasj that has been sadly neglected - a taste that's more Maroc than Asian but still barely resembles its North African cousin. The high is upbeat and gets us through our first call to the states!
Wide awake and buzzzzed we head further and wander the streets in hopes of another "first time for us" coffeeshop. Besides, since we've begun to settle down from the flight we're starting to scope the neighborhoods from the view point of possibly moving over there. So the LESS touristy the better. We spot many elephants and more AMAZING street art en route:

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0530.jpg
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0529.jpg
And, while wandering through the RLD, we discovered THE biggest gathering of swans we have EVER seen on one of the busy canals - everyone was gathered checking out like 100 plus beautiful white swans on a small stretch of the canal between maybe 3 bridges...
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0527.jpg
Ok, back to our walk...we're heading out in a Southerly (we think) direction and just keep going. Before we know it, we spot a coffeeshop sign and decide to check it out AND, lo-and-behold, we've stumbled upon the original GREEHNHOUSE on Tolstraat! Tiny little place compared to the Centrum shops with a nice outside seating area that we take FULL advantage of. The budkeeper, a friendly local Dutch dude tender who gladly opened up any container we showed interest in, showed us all the hazes. Our purchase? 1 gram of "Lemon Haze" at, I didn't mark it down but I'm thinking maybe 12 euro. Tried and true bud that kept us alive and well but hungry as hell...
Our next stop was dinner - Schwarma and fries a couple of buildings down from the Paradise where we enjoyed a chili and garlic sauce slathered delight washed down with tasty fanta sodas!
We hang closer to "home" on Nieuwmarkt and head over to one of our markt favorites:
HILL STREET BLUES ON THE MARKET for a gram of "Himalayan Gold" at 11 e/g
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0531.jpg
Accompanied by some serious hot chocolates - the hasj was more black than gold but had that gold "taste", if you know what I mean? Nice stone, fudgy consistency that bordered on the dreaded "cakey" but fortunately did not cross the line. Instead we were rewarded with a nice "stoney" late night high that worked well with our coco. We sat in the newly refurbed smoking room that was comfy and offered a nice view to the side alley that was more "gezellig" than a view of the Nieuwmarkt would have been that night.
Ready for night-night, we head over the GREENPLACE for some grab and go to smoke in the room and our choice? "LA Confidential" at 13 e/g
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0533.jpg
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0534.jpg
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0536.jpg
Small buds but a deep earthy fragrance and super strong night-end stone. Day ones wrapped up, it's approaching 1:30am and we set the alarm for 7:30am...

Enjoying your report and am having many laughs over your photos. That has to be the reddest red Leb anyone has ever seen, LOL, or you have the stonedest camera ever. A little tip: turn off the flash when you shoot close-up. Everything gets washed out by the light.
I think that your finding Red Leb is quite a discovery, as many have asked about it but no one has located any for a very long time.

Thanks for the compliments! It was a GREAT first day...
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2009
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0486.jpg
It's Halloween and we've noticed the trend toward more and more celebrating of the distinctively NON-Dutch holiday. Not just for the tourist either; we saw a group of lightly costumed roller-bladers cruising past Rembrandt Square en masse...maybe 100 or so tore through the square and some had relatively decent costumes! They passed by Friday night - where was my camera?
We're up early, showered and fueled on take away coffee from the Italian place a block down (the only place open that early!) and Lemon Haze from the night before, we head out to get GIL!
Now for some reason (maybe 'cause it's trip #10) we're getting EVERYWHERE we wanna go...fast! Our destination: GILEX for our scooter rental. Our last trip in June was my FIRST scooter experience and I'm hooked! Within a week of returning I bought my baby Beatrice (Aprilia SR 50 R Factory) and now I cannot WAIT to cruise the streets and paths of Amsterdam on "Gil", a 50 cc Kymco.

Without a map but remembering it's on the Marnixstraat next to 1eHulp (We were calling it Marxinstraat! BIG difference I imagine) we sniff out our way and find, quite unintentionally, the Leidesplein! Can you believe, we've never been? It always seemed so "out of the way" and now we've just bumped into it! Having newly rediscovered '80's legends "The Church" we pass the Melkweg and "Under the Milky Way" plays through my head!
We're MORE than ready for smoke and cafe, perhaps some juice and we look for some little, out-of-the-way shop. Fitting the bill PERFECTLY..
CRUSH for a g-slice of "Hiya / Double Zero" for 9 e/g

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff26 ... CN0542.jpg

Nice quiet local shop. The hasj stood out - old 'skool Maroc, perfect! Fresh, squishy, fragrant and clean. Can't ask for much more. No fresh juice but an orange Looza did the trick. We thanked the budtender and headed down the straat...
The weather is MORE than cooperating and our excitement mounts as we spot the Texaco station, then 1 e hulp, then THE ROW OF SCOOTERS! We are here!
Lex, one of the owners, greets us at the door remembering us from our last trip. We chat (he was born in Nieuwmarkt and his Mom still lives there!) and he walks us out to Gil handing me the keys. Here we are! No formalities, we start him up and the wife gets on and "let's GO!"
Coming from Beatrice Gil feels sluggish and slow... Where's the speed? That's ok, the weather is nice so what's the rush? I gun him to the max and pick up the bike path and head towards the Vijlstraat (sp?) and the landmark Heineken building that tells us we're on Ferdinand Bolstraat and towards the Cuypmarkt. Not ready to stop yet, we keep going and try to find our way to Anne Frank's house (NOT her hiding annex) on the Meredinplein (sp?) off Churchillian.
Now, I cannot stress enough what a scooter wonderland Amsterdam is. I mean, it's like a matchbox city for two wheels as you wind your way parallel to the main roads through the neighborhoods on two lane bike paths that have their own traffic lights! The lanes split and we found ourselves passing THROUGH an Amsterdam School building and down through parks. We got the scoop on roads vs. bike paths: a local was kind enough to tap our shoulders sitting in traffic to remind us that since we're NOT wearing helmets, apparently our scooters are slow enough to use the paths!
We find our way - eventually - to Anne's house and stop in the bookstore around the corner. Now a bit of trivia - the book store is the ACTUAL store that Anne picked out her red plaid autograph book that Otto bought her for her 13th birthday. I snap a pic of the wife in front of the window (complete with a red plaid Anne Frank book displayed!) and we head inside.
It's a school oriented bookstore that respects its heritage with a good selection of Anne Frank books (my wife picked up a good bio) and I picked up a PHENOMINAL Amsterdam School book in Dutch (worth it for the pics alone). I tried hard to pass as a local - ALMOST pulling it off but mistaking "do you want any giftwrapped" for "do you want a bag"? The lady at the counter busted me, asking me again in almost sarcastic English. Hell, I deserved it!
We hop on Gil and off we go...
Next stop, de Keeper!

Just looking on fbn's menu site and saw this one: Greenhouse Haarlemmerstraat it doesn't look like a Greenhouse menu to me.
Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
