prob as easy or easier than a standard manual. im in thje market for a new car. prob a 1997-2002 honda prelude, acura cl, or toyota 4 runner. going automatic this time. way to much hilly terrain and traffic here to get another manual like i had on my integra gsr.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

Honda are good cars and top looking design too, imo.
I personally couldn't buy an automatic as I like being in charge of the driving and making the gears work for me, especially on cornering and racing about a bit. I drive an insane amount to meet clients all over south west UK with my work and being self employed I have to choose practical and comfort with cars, unfortunately.

I just bought 1 of these a 1998 CRV...Like Brand New..48K = 9K
For my son.

Very nice car...

My 24 year old just got his license, after he got 3 professional orchestra jobs..3 times taking the test so 3 really is a charm...One conductor was razzing him, as he has known him since he was a little kid playing as a soloist..now sitting with the section and finally able to get himself to an from his musical career..I just Love watching him go to work in his Penguin Suit..

My job is Finally Done..And he finally plays Rock and Roll too..

My Daughter is living in LA now, and Grandmas 20 year old clunker took a proverbial shit a few days ago, I found almost the identical CRV, but she wound up with 99' Subaru Outback for 8K around the same millage..

Carmax has always been very good....would be my first look.

driving a manual here is not as convienient as an auto. we have traffic bumper to bumper similar to la and huge hills somewhat like san fran. being stopped at a stop light in a big city on a steep ass hill= not fun. driving up in the mountains 1500-2000m above sea level (on roads next to 1000m drops) in the snow in a manual also is not fun. very hilly/mountainous terrain here. also if im going on a road trip to say cali or montana maybe chicago and if im driving 600 miles and 10 hrs a day its nice to not have to shift. would be nice if you could switch between manual and auto.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

I can relate..I drive an 06 MiniS..manual..In South Florida if you drive a small car, you BETTER have manual or your DEAD..Hummers on all sides...
Bumper to bumper...I drive within a tri-county area, and a lot of miles..

Although It is much more fun to drive on hilly country roads as it is a bit of a go-cart and I like to drive FAST..... Doesn't happen very often, but when I can I smile =)

Cannot stand Clarkson, waste of oxygen imo. I do like Top Gear though, and think James May is a genius.

Fastest I've driven was 155mph on a stretch of the M1 in yorkshire, Audi RS6 Bi-Turbo. Will never do it again, as I've since expirienced a high speed accident and don't want a repeat!

I know it can be stupidly idiotic to drive fast but what an adrenaline rush it is, especially leaving boy-racers in your wake when they desperately try to keep up or overtake you on a motorway or when you know a safe stretch of road where no one is about. There's one near me and loads speed on it, you can even hear those super-motorbikes seriously opening up their throttles from miles away. I've still got a clean licence, no endorsements and I'm a friggin good driver with the amount of miles I clock up per year, but the speed limits on UK motorways should be increased I think.

Traffic went faster on horse and carriage years ago in London compared to now, so they say.

i'll take that and raise you driving on the I-5 from 3:15-6 pm between downtown and southcenter esp when the boeing workers get out. im willing to bet our traffic is worse..as i said its pretty much like los angeles. maybe not quite as bad. iv been to london dozens of times and seen the traffic. not as bad as la or even nyc imo. only traffic iv seen worse than los angeles was in bangkok..maybe rome but i doubt it. driving on the 5 during rush hour is a pain in the ass. and as i mentioned driving on these roads in the heavy rain or snow and on hills sucks ass even more..esp in a manual. iv got nothing against manuals. im just not going to get another one while i live in the seattle metropolitan area. or on the west coast in general..except maybe in oregon haha. obviously if i came into a ton of cash nd got another sports car or a supercar id go manual. but any other car id go auto.
