the website, in dutch, is http://www.dehollandschemanege.nl/tuttiflutes wrote:I would really like some info on the training arena, I've hear you can watch them train...
i believe there is a cafe in the building and you can watch the horses from there
Yes tutti, I've not been there myself but it was on a recent holiday programme in the UK. It has a mezzanine type balcony where a cafe is located over looking the hall. I believe you have to speak and understand Dutch in order to ride there, due to safety regulations. They said it's worth visiting, while sipping a cocktail watching the riders if you like this sort of thing.

Openbaar Vervoer:
Centraal station Tram lijn 1.

According to Google translate.
Public Transportation:
Central Station Tram Line 1. First stop on the Overtoom after the stop of the Leidseplein. You are now 100 meter from the back of the Hollandsche Manege.
Are you using a different route in Amsterdam or are you in town lost demand Leidseplein - Cinema Museum in Vondelpark - Vondel Church in Vondelstraat, then you're on a few one hundred meters away from Hollandsche Manege.
Enjoy

Anyone can ride there ,you just pay the Euros.30 or 35 for an hour if I remember right. I set it up as a surprise via e mail for de Vrouw in July.
She rode this huge Dutch Warmblood...There are signs posted around the stable area though saying do not enter unless you speak, understand Dutch ...which was not enforced when we were there... Its probably hit and miss what you'll see if you drop in . We caught part of what seemed like a dresage team practice , followed by a private lesson or two,the first time we went . And when you're finished CS Tweedy is just around the corner...

In 1978 I lost one of my (5)brothers to cancer he was 25....He was an amazing musician and a trainer for the Royal Lipizzaner, needless to say he taught me to ride and play guitar. Since 1978 both of those ceased..as it was too painful ...When ever I see prancing ponies I will always remember him flying through the air on a great Lipizzaner Steed...
A sight to behold....
Today would have been his 56 birthday..His twin brother still lives so a Happy BD..
After 5 visits, this is definitely on my list to observe this trip...Seems easy to get there too..I am very bad with directions..I hope my GPS works...
Anyone who want to join me, we can always do a coffeeshop trip as well..
Maybe at a later date I will venture riding, and work on my dutch.I'll have to remember to bring my "Shit Kickers"
Maybe if I offer to clean some stalls?
Thanks for the info
