It's booked! January 27-July ?

Post by DonGately »

Well, I got my tickets yesterday! Flying out of Chicago on January 26, getting into Schipol at 9 a.m. on the 27th. We'll be staying (me and three friends) in Amsterdam for a few days, heading to Utrecht on the 31, where we move into our apartments on the 1 of February. We'll be living/studying in Utrecht for nearly 6 months, so frequent trips to Amsterdam and everywhere else are guaranteed. Our return tickets are flexible, which is nice because we don't know what day we're going back yet.

I like to write, so I'll journal as much of our coffeeshop experiences as I can, and be sure to report them to the masses. This website has been really helpful in preparing for what to expect, knowing where to go, and more importantly where to avoid. I hope to pass along the favor soon.

Just a day over two weeks to go!! So excited!! I've been smoking way too much at home in anticipation...

The four of us got a nice, modern apt near Westerpark for pretty cheap, and they allow smoking which is always nice to know.

Hopefully we get out of Schipol quickly and are wandering Haarlemmerstraat by 11 or so! I'm thinking Dampkring 2 as a first coffeeshop, considering the nice selection and decent prices. Good choice?

I sure missed this when it was first posted.

You have been posted on the January Whos In Town page.
You have also been posted up to July under Extended Stay All Month.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.
Watch for Toke and Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

I read this and NOTHING will prepare you for those pesky bike lanes when you step out of your first cs!!! Mine was Rokerij and then straight down Singel. Luckily I'll be prepared for my next trip... 28th Feb to 4th March!!

I'll be at Utrecht University. It's quite easy to apply there as a foreign student--it's one of the more international English speaking universities in Europe.

Two weeks!!
