I am in Amsterdam from Nov 17th to Nov 19th! Need to pick a cool small pipe/bong etc for my gay smoker friend ! I love smoking myself, but in addition to being my first trip, I have never used pipes/bongs and so would appreciate if someone can help me in suggesting a certain gift. Also if I need to pick some accessories along with it (filters etc), please do mention that also.

A couple of concerns that go along with the question are -

1. Do you just walk in a smart shop and ask for whatever you want, I mean is it purely legal. Also does it also apply to space cakes, because I heard you get them only in smartshops only( need to try that along with the souvenir )

2. Wanted to make sure, it would be perfectly legal to fly with the souvenir from AMS to copenhagen and then to New Delhi.

There are countless numbers of souvenir shops all over the 'dam. 99% of them sell pipes, bongs, and anything else you could want/need. A lot of the pipes are Amsterdam specific as well; usually sporting the XXX logo or something of that nature. They are cheap and plentiful. You'll probably trip over a few here and there

If you're asking about Spacecakes made with weed then yes they are perfectly legal and many, if not most, of the coffeeshops sell them. Depending on your tolerance level they may not have any effect on you, though. Supposedly, a few shops have very decent ones that will get you pretty baked, but most are quite weak. I believe La Tertulia has decent cakes. Someone else will chime in and give you some others.

Oh, and as long as you don't use your souvenir pipe you should have no problem getting it through customs/borders. A clean pipe could be used for "anything", right

I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

You will have no problem finding any size or shape smoking souvenir. If on a budget, the Waterlooplein market usually has a nice selection.

They have them in most souvenier shops.

Thanks FlyByNite, will definitely try to make it to the toke n talk on 18th. Just a curious question, being my first trip, it is like a small coffeshop in the sense that I would be able to make out the ACD group in there ?
