LOL. Truth is California food is some of the BEST in the world. From sushi to In n Out burgers to the French Laundry. Amsterdam can't even play in the California league......mark the martian wrote:Aww, Amsterdam has some good food! Just not US food
Not to mention FRESH which my Dutch friends don't seem to care about....

As a regular visitor to Cali, I have to agree that most of the food there is second to none. Don't get me wrong, the Netherlands have some damn fine eating houses too but given the choice I know were I would rather eat. I have the wife sitting here agreeing with me (and she is a born and bread Dutch lass and no shoddy cook in her own right!)
However, back to the point of this thread, what are the chances of a poor old Brit with a history of back pain obtaining a permit to be able to sample some of this fine Californian medicinal herb?

Never mind, I was a nice thought... Sitting in the Cali sun, smoking some fine herb without having to worry about 'the man' trying to lock you up for it!!

The $100 for the ticket isn't the problem, It's the next time you arrive at LAX or JFK on business or holiday and 'the man' behind the desk looks at your passport, checks his computer, sees the ticket and the next thing you know you are on the first flight back home and banned from entry into the US for the next 500 years!!

Actually going to the US is weird for me, because there's lots of food available in supermarkets and stuff that is super super unhealthy and prepared (much more than in any other country I've been to), and then you see lots of really over weight people walking around...
And you wonder, why there isn't some kind of law to save people from themselves! Is buying twinkies a constitutional right? T
That's particularly what baffles me about US food. Obviously some huge generalisations in there!

ABSOLUTELY. Good point. Non-residents need to tread carefully and not get into trouble. A drug conviction in your HOME country and get you banned from the US.Old School Smoker wrote:Geezer wrote:Even without a doctor's note simple possession of up to an ounce is a $100 ticket at worst.
