Crazy BMIBaby sale on right now!

Post by DaveS »

Hey everyone...

I've just scored a £19.98 ALL-IN return flight from Birmingham to Schipol arriving 21st April at 9.10am and back home on Saturday morning at 11am!!

I use a Visa Electron card, so no extra charges, online check-in with hand luggage (save £5 each way), no seat pre-booked (save £4.99 each way), no travel insurance (save £7 - I have my own), and both outbound and return flights cost £0.00 - all I pay is the taxes at £19.98.

So I miss 420 by a day... I'm sure there'll be a few pieces left to pick up along the way!

And while I've been thinking about this, I've gone and booked 15th-18th September as well - at that sort of a deal, you just can't say no...

If anyone's looking for a bargain flight or two - I would suggest having a look!

They couldn't be that cruel... or could they?

I hadn't heard of any potential threats to the route - after all, there's only really KLM and BMIBaby worth a look from Brum to AMS these days, and altough KLM have a lot more flights daily, they just don't do the sorts of deals that BMIBaby seem to do...

Ah well - it's not often that I can happily sit down and book two return flights just like that - I still can't believe it - £40 for two return flights.

There were a couple of dates in March I was looking at, and I left a message for a mate of mine who said he was interested in coming next time, but while I was waiting for him to get back to me, the Saturday return flight went up £40, doubling the cost - not a problem normally, still nice and cheap, but I would usually come back on a Friday night and have a full last day to finish everything up - the Saturday morning flight only appealed because it was two hours later than the other cheap morning flights (all the evening flights were expensive)!

With that in mind, I took no further delays and got the flights booked. If my mate wants to tag along, he can book himself on!

They are cutting staff, planes and some Routes. I would hope the Damage one is safe as it is normally quite busy.

Only article i could find was this as the screaming baby is doing my head in

I would not worry to much though, im not and i have booked 6 flights already for next year at the cost of what one trip cost earlier this year.

Nice one Kemit...
.. It said routes from Manchester to Alicante and Malaga in Spain were among those being dropped, but was unable to name others.
I hope they realise that if they did drop any AMS routes, especially from BHX, they would lose a massive amount of income, not only from us but all the business people off to their meetings (just like us!)

Fingers crossed.

It was bad enough when Thomsonfly stopped the Coventry to Amsterdam route, ok, not as convenient as BHX to get to and from, but the return evening flights gave you another two or three hours more than BMIBaby at the time... Sometimes, I'd get a single from BHX to AMS, then come back via Coventry just to get the extra smoking time in of a night!

I loved that route, awesome and you could bring stupid amounts of weed back with no problems at all. The car park was right there when you come out so you could get a couple on for the drive back up the A45.
I would pay extra if that route ever returned just for the ease 8)

No worries Stuart - Once the mortgage has gone out this month, if I have a spare £20, I might just do a bit of June/July as well. It just seems wrong not to!

Three flights for less than I normally pay for one. I like that idea!

LOL - I thought the car park was part of the runway, the place was so small - they just taxied between the cars didn't they?

BTW - there are flights for 420 still showing (06.45am) at £0.00 with £9.99 taxes if anyone wants to join the crowds!

You guys on that side of the ocean are so lucky. 20gbp for a flight to Ams??? I have to pay at least $800can (460gbp) and spend 7-10 hours getting there.

Trad - sorry buddy! To be honest, I'd rather live in Canada than the UK - been to Vancouver and Victoria (both in BC obviously) and just loved the friendly people and the relaxed vibe there... Unfortunately, I was with my Ex at the time who was rabidly anti-MJ, so there was no chance to sample that lovely BC bud...

I could smell it all over the place, which just made it worse! It would be like going to Amsterdam and just going to the museums and art galleries...

There have to be some advantages to living over here I guess... Don't get me wrong though, flight deals like that are few and far between - the best deal I had prior to this one was £45 inc all taxes, card charges etc.

I hadn't expected to get the rtn flights so cheap, but BMIBaby don't charge you an extra fee if you use a Visa Electron card to purchase the tickets - that would have been another tenner at least - and I always go for the most basic options when booking - no travel insurance, no hold baggage, online check-in, no pre-booked seat allocation, no airport lounges etc. Just your basic, no-frills flight.

I can get to the airport in less than 30 mins by taxi, and having checked in online, I can head straight through to security - and if there are no delays (nice early flights are usually ok) then often an hour later I'm about to set foot on Dutch tarmac.

If I haven't then sparked up within an hour of landing, then something's going wrong. No bags (except hand luggage) means a quick blast through customs and straight through to the train station. 20mins later I should be stepping out of Centraal Station... Nice.

FlyByNite - thanks for posting me there fella - not as many as I'd thought showing for the 420 week I see...

Ok FlyByNite, I just couldn't stop myself from booking another one..

Put me down for 30th June - 3rd July as well...

It's only £20 after all... I'm sure I can scrape enough cash together for all the weed and hotels...

Well it seems that since booking my flights, BMIBaby have gone and changed their flight times...

All of the Saturday flights now fly back at 09.45, not 11am - so they've nicked three hours of good schmoking time off me! Not a major problem, it just means having to ensure all my herb has been destroyed before heading off for Schipol... Ahh well....
