Sidewalk Smoking

Post by SeniorHippies »

A discussion of the now departed CS Old Time has me thinking about sitting in the sun, people watching, and catching a buzz. Is it legal to have seating or tables outside where weed can be smoked? Is it tolerated, if not legal? I can't think of any shops I regularly visit which have outside tables. What about all those CS's and bars around the Leidseplein, do they allow smoking weed? Do our forumites know of shops where you can smoke outside?

Sidewalk Smoking

Well, OK. I don't always get over to the RLD so I didn't really know those shops too well. For the others, I guess I just haven't been by when the weather was nice enough to sit out. I'm hoping for some sun for the March-April trip. The fall trip was pretty grey. But the sun always shines on the Amsterdam in my heart.

It is legal as long as they have an official terrace, I personally love sitting outside Homegrown Fantasy, people/trams/amsterdam - doesn't get much better.

Our favorite places to sit outside were in front of Basjoe and Amnesia. Both have canals directly across from them...and Amnesia has a nice bench out front and the canal is only about 15 feet away :)

Also, lovely architecture and more of neighborhood feel over in the Jordaan where Amnesia is located.

Basjoe is nicer for watching people as it's a tad bit busier over in that area. We had a German walking tour stop and gawk at us, and the shop, as we were blazing away
