i know nothing about this service, had a look at how it worked & am a bit confused how it works, i filled in the details but it didn't name a hotel, just said theirs 1 available for my bid, is it a blind choice which you find out after youv'e confirmed?
i think so

Did not read those threads I pointed out did you? Its all explained in those threads.

In short I have no idea what your posts means. If you are doing NYOP bidding they do not tell you that any hotel is available and certainly not that one hotel is available. You bid and you get a winner or you do not.

And no you do not know which hotel you get until after you bid and win. But if you read those threads like I suggested you would already know what hotels you are likely to get. And the price people got them for. Its a very small number.( small as in # of hotels and small in terms of what people paid)

The folks that did those threads have gone and done a lot of work. They keep everything updated every day. They will answer your questions after you have done at least a little homework. But if folks do not actually read the threads its not going to do much good.

But the bottom line is 5 star hotel double rooms for approx 80-90 euros (tax and fee inc). Four stars for less.

Read the threads there. Then ask away.

I used Priceline once and ended up getting a good (not great) deal for what was the Apollolaan Hotel (can't remember the name off hand) and this was classed as in the Centrum which if you look at a map it clearly isn't, Pricelines great if you want to pay for a mystery hotel, personally I'd rather know where I'm stopping before I pay.

Anyone a member of the UK AA car break down club? Seems like you can get some really great deals offered to members who book a complete package through them, at some of the better quality hotels, etc. I'm just this minute checking it out with view to taking another trip to Amsterdam soon.

Then PL may not be for you. Its for people who will take a small amount of risk----risk that is very small if they do their homework (as in RTFT) and want to save a ton of money while staying in a 4 or 5 star hotel in a very expensive hotel city. For them PL NYOP is perfect.

People can book AMS 3 star hotels direct. But they can bid on PL NYOP and get a 5 star hotel for approx 1/2 or less than the amount of a 3 star.

Booking a double room in a 2 star direct will cost you more than a 5 star. You may even pay more for that 1 star double than the 5 star via PL.

It makes no difference to me. I could care less where people stay or what they pay. And I certainly do not work for PL. I am just a cheap guy and I like to stay in expensive places.

And I know exactly what 3 or 4 hotels I am going to get. For me its perfect. All 3 or 4 of those hotels are fine with me.

But if you like staying in 1 or 2 stars. Or if money is no concern. Or if you are totally thrown off your game because 1 of 3 or 4 hotels you might get is still to much unknown. Then Priceline is not for you.

Boner the hotel you mentioned has not been in the PL system for at least 5 years. Maybe longer.

But if folks want to give advice that paying as much for that 2 star (because you know the name of the 2 star) as you would for the Kras or the Barbizon Palace or the Marriott is a good deal then so be it.

Not meant to be a pizzing contest. Just good advice for those that want it.

Now for those interested go to TA-Amsterdam Forum and read up. Everything you need to know is in those threads.

If anyone does try Priceline this is the best place to try and judge what to pay for what hotel: http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/ but nothings 100%.

Actually that is outdated info Boner. Biddingfortravel used to be great. But it has dried up to the point where AMS postings may come now 1x or 2x a month if that. There is almost no traffic there now.

There are lots of approx 25 page threads on different travel sites as to why this happened. Virtually every poster on those threads is a once active biddingfor poster who is now banned.

Not using their link to bid=banned

Ask your question in the wrong way=banned

Post your results on another forum=banned

Tripadvisor.com /AMS Forum has more AMS related prices and info than anyone anywhere. So if its just AMS you are interested in then TA is the place to go. Nothing else will come close.

But www.betterbidding.com is the site that has overtaken biddingfor as far as an overall one stop Priceline info site. Started by people who were banned at the other site.

Getting correct up to date info can save you a lot of money and help you not make mistakes if you do bid.

Should I stop and refrain conducting correct spelling and use of comma?

I think ,you certainly should,English is not my first language and i am just a russian peasant, was telling myself to stay out,but desire and wish to be on this site definitely stronger. Why do you have to hurt me like that TRANCE,why... I now i am miserable ever without you help. Everything is more difficult for me i have to look at the dictionary, edit ,ask an other people how to spell words, but i am also taking it as a good practice in English spelling, and i pass a sitizenship exame, litteracy,so you dont tell me i am gonna tell you.Thank you Trance And by the way,i did correct my message,i was, probably to excited when i wrought it ,so i mixed everything up.
