i heard it was Du Pont & other powerfull chemical companies who had friends in high places, who had it criminalized, they knew they couldn't push their products when somebody could make something cheaper & more superior out of hemp

You are right, along with Herst, Mellon, and Anslinger. Hemp was a threat to the oil, forest, and chemical industries. It was also outlawed as a direct result from a lie to congress, which was later proved to be a lie.

It was terrifying, you drew up in your car, lowered your window and a huge rasta would lean right in with a bag of weed, I remember the smell of their dreadlocks bizzarely, it was a 5 or ten pound draw, and a scrap of newspaper would be put in your hand and they used to just pull out a small handful and do it by eye, all the time we used to shit ourselves that the heat would be on us any second.
