Pretty much for the past year or two my nose has been blocked. Come to think of it... I have always had issues breathing through my nose. Lately it has been getting really bad. When i smoke my nose gets super blocked and i get post nasal drip that makes me cough like crazy. I just get into a crazy coughing fit and the pot is not harsh at all. Sometimes i can rip down a cannon, other times i sneeze like crazy and end up coughing up a lung.
Sometimes going into a grow room or even smelling a big bud from close gives me an allergic reaction. Helping my friend with bubble bags once almost killed me because due to the pollen in the air i was coughing so much (we weren't smoking at all) that I couldn't catch my breath. It was pretty scary. Anyone with a similar problem? Any ideas?
I have something similar and find hayfever tablets sort it out, I only have to take 1 or 2 when I start smoking after a break then I'm normally good until the next time I have a break.
Interesting that i've had a similar problem now for 40+ years, ever since i started. I go the nasal spray plenty of liquids to keep the throat from drying out an i really it bad back in the days i helped my friends break up lbs. I'm thinking some sort of allergy but i'm not quiting till i'm not breathing.
Peace 2 All...
Whilst I am sure is not an allergy, I sneeze without fail every single time I light up a strong pure joint and deeply inhale. It's like clockwork, I don't think it's an allergy in my case, just the smoke tickling my nose.
Interesting. My partner is allergic to weed in a different way. When she smokes up, she can sometimes have bad trips, similar to what I imagine a mild bad trip on mushrooms would be. As in, she feels sick and is dizzy and is really freaking out in a weird way. So she doesn't smoke now, although she has smoked before without any problems.
Dude, sounds like smoking makes you feel like you have a cold. Is it still worth it?

My wife doesn't smoke for pretty much the same reasons, although I'd love to see purple legomen and think I could fly after smoking.
Seriously I dont think thats an allergy more so just not being able to recognise and therefore handle the paranoia.
Oh ok, interesting to hear man, thanks for sharing. Yeah, my partner has a mild anxiety disorder so it some weed sets it off. Just out of interest, do you smoke around your wife much?
dry nose and throat and the stifled sneeze and cough........shit i thought it was just my body telling me there is at least adequate THC in the weed.......no sneeze no good.....just try not to drink until after that sneeze/cough fit otherwise it can be messy
whilst not strictly an allergy treating it as such will help. it is due to irritation of mucous membranes (the inside of nasal passages) by particles and chemicals present in weed. these particles irritate the passages and cause inflamation of the inside of your nose. it happens in a similar way to the way pollen during the summer causes hay fever but is not strictly an allergy, more an irritation.
treating with an antihistamine helps as it reduces this inflamation, if the problem is more chronic in the uk we have steriod nasal sprays (such as beconase, flixonase ect aimed at hayfever/dust allergies) which if used reguarly should help.
just remenber that smoking weed is not harmless, it does damage your nasal passages, throat, mouth, lung and thats just inhalling. there is much debate about what harm it causes in your body once taken. having said that i have real trouble of thinking of anything which is trully good for you and as long as you realise the risks free will and all. as someone probally once said- "im here for a good time not a long time" . if thats not your outlook then you might regret smoking.
Kacey420,
Have you thought about vaporizing? Also, you could always wear a surgical mask when handling gear.
Note: I do realize that not everyone has access to a vaporizer and that not everywhere would it be appropriate for one to wear a mask when around exposed bud. Just a couple of ideas that's all.
I hope you sort it out.
