American Hotel

Their statements about being "gay friendly" only indicate their willingness to accomodate gay people. They are not near the Rembrandtplein, the "gay" center. The big question is their tolerance toward smoking. They express their anti-drug AND anti-smoking sentiments quite strongly. They say they'll bounce you, day or night, and charge your credit card a "fine."

It's really a good looking hotel, a landmark, really, with a lot of history and a well rated restaurant.

Bav, You're talkin about another (eden) hotel near Rembrandtplein, which is 'near' the gay street in town.

Weemanio, haven't heard of anybody stayin there but from the location and the website I don't think you'll have any problems with it, apart from smoking weed in the room I'd guess.

Ah yes you are right. The one I was talking about was on the Amstel. Shame as it looked like a decent hotel.

The other hotel

It probably is a decent hotel. If you like the looks of it, book it. Don't worry, any gays staying there have to sign an agreement not to re-decorate your room or improve your wardrobe. javascript:emoticon(':D')

You reckon it will be ok? Is that close to the red light district too?

I suppose the only problem is being able to smoke there. Might drop them an email and see what they say. I don't want to get fined.
