Haarlem coffeeshops don't have 5gr daily limits? Never knew that although I doubt I'd ever buy more than 5gr from any one shop anyway! It's like being a kid in a candy store. You want to try as many different kinds as you can!

all shops in every town have that 5 g limit!

So according to you, I can go to any C/S in Haarlem and buy more than 5 grams per day per visit? LMFAO. I don't doubt that there are dealers that will sell more than the law allows, which is 5 grams, but to state that there aren't any limits in Haarlem is totally ridiculous, laughable, hence the LMFAO.

People, believe what you will, but the law stipulates a 5 gram limit. And before I forget, I have another little nugget, especially to foreigners: It is illegal to posses more than 5 grams of cannabis. Would totally suck to have your gear taken by the authorities for possessing more than the limit. I can hear the whining now. Hahahahahaha, ignorance is bliss.
Last thought: If I knew of a shop that sells more than the legal limit, I would keep my mouth shut so as not to ruin a good thing. Some things are best when kept secret.

I've had more than 5gr on me at any one time. While it may be illegal to possess over 5gr, I've never been randomly stopped and searched. Only if you're acting like a loud-mouthed jackass would you give the authorities a reason to do so.

I've heard both 5 grams and 30 grams as the limit you can carry, I always carry about half ounce (14 grams) when I'm in town.

As far as wanting to buy more in a coffeeshop just ask some will and some wont.

I can't think of one time when I had under 5 grams, the point was to inform those who might not have known what the law stipulates. And I totally agree that unless one acts like a total chav, there shouldn't be any problems.

Boner, I had heard that the limit was higher until either the late 90's or early 00's. The law now stipulates a tolerance of 5 grams per person, which matches the maximum allowed to be purchased per person per day. Good point about wanting to buy more, just ask. Worst thing that could happen is that they won't. No harm, no foul.

Just visited the website for the Dutch minister of foreign affairs where it states that you may not purchase more than 5gr from any one coffeeshop per day. Regarding larger amounts:

"Cannabis: possession of less than 30 grams is a minor offence and is likewise given low priority. The official drug guidelines are stricter regarding the sale of cannabis."

Hope this helps clear up the issue! Granted, if you had 6 bags of 5gr, it might appear as you had the intention of dealing, which isn't looked upon so lightly. However, I doubt anyone would get into trouble for simply possessing 30gr if you were cooperative and respectful if questioned.

I was incorrect in stating that a person could only buy 5 grams per day. My error was in not fully understanding the trial program (plain white plastic cards). I had read that the prelude to instituting the card system was to limit the quantity of gear to 5 grams per person per day. I stand corrected in what I had believed was to be a fact. Ma bad...

According to the ELDD, "The possession of small quantities of drugs for personal use is accorded a much lower priority [2]. Anyone found in possession of less than 0.5 grams of list I (i.e. 'hard') drugs will generally not be prosecuted, though the police will confiscate the drugs and consult a care agency. As for cannabis a maximum of 5 grams will not lead to investigation or prosecution." In addition, "Possession of cannabis or other drugs for commercial purposes is considered a more serious offence than possession, production and sale for personal consumption, and will be prosecuted. The maximum penalty for possessing cannabis not exceeding 30 grams is 1 month' imprisonment and/or a €2 300 fine."

I think most of us can agree that if one is chill, meaning not drawing negative attention to oneself, there won't be any problems. Better to be aware of what can happen, no matter how remote, than to learn the hard way.
