ferry from newcastle to dam, then onwards to the ring!

Post by mad evo »

Hi,

Ok i am in the planning of a trip to Germany this summer in my new car and hoping to take the overnight ferry from newcastle to the dam, want to stay there a night then onwards.

I need to know information on any towns i should stop enroute to Germany? where theres some nice coffeeshops and places to stay with secure parking?

Any help with planning this trip out would be great

Thanks for reading

Stop of in Berlin mate theres a "goodtimes" place there called Artemis.

All i'll say is ive been 4 times in the last 6 times, spent over a few grand, search for it on the web to get an idea ! Ps its like the playboy mansion but with hotter women

Also go to Spa man my favourite track apart from the Green Hell !

Ps what car you picking up mate ? ! ! It will be one hell of a bonding trip with your new toy if your taking it to the ring.

You should go from Dover to Dunquirke mate if you want to go to DAm its much fucking quicker !!!

Ps i've done the trip from East midlands to Dam within 5 hours in Micra 1.0 ! it took longer in a M3, i was too scared to get flashed by cameras !
! light that isht !

Ps forgot to add, i suggest you go to the ring First then Dam, The Green Hell is not a place that will tolerate a high driver, just look at the amount of people that are badly injured or killed there every month.

Also one lap of the ring at a fast pace (under 8min:40second) is like running 2 miles + im sure of it.

thanks for the tips guys.

Iv been to amsterdam 8 times before so know my way around just never driven there so will be my 1st time driving there.

I was planning to take my evo 8 last year before i sold it but forgot the idea due to not feeling comfortable with the relliability of the car, i was running too much boost to even think about ragging it around europe without something going wrong.

So after many months of searching I have finally aquired the machine to do this trip in, i bought a 2005 model E55 AMG merc, in the proccess of having her remapped and de-limit the top end, hopefully with this i should in theory be able to manage a top speed in excess of 200mph on the autobahn, i will try anyway.

If anyone else is planning a smiliar road trip in the summer, get in touch who knows maybe we might bump into each other lol

I have planned a rough route, from dam through to belgium (spa) then onwards to germany then back to the dam through france (long scenic route) i have planned for around 3k miles give or take a few hundred.

This brings me onto my next concern, the car will ideally be mapped on our UK grade shell vpower fuel which comes in at 99 ron, my concern is if i cant get this grade or better on my trip i will risk causing detonation to the engine aswell as running too high temps. so can anyone tell me if getting 99ron or greater will be a problem in holland, belgium, germany and france? if so i might have to just remap her on standard 95 unleaded.

Also is it reccomended to get special track day insurance for the ring and spa? it costs a lot but is it worth it? I by no means consider myself a pro at circuit racing but have done most of the tracks in the uk and dont drive like a twat.

Now the problem is i just have to wait untill the summer kicks in to get the ball rolling, long wait but hopefully will add that extra little bit of spice to going to the dam.

I was gonna stay at Movenpick hotel in amsterdam as they have a nice safe underground car park, plan was to just leave the car there and go to the coffeeshops on foot as per usual. however would anyone reccomend or advise against driving city centre and parking squat outside the coffeeshops? have seen people with uk plates do this.
