Snow On The Way!

Post by Insomnia »

I've been looking at the weather reports and there are reports of heavy snow in Amsterdam on thursday night and Friday, my flight is scheduled to land from London Stansted, at 9am Amsterdam time Friday morning, i hope it doesn't get canceled after looking forward to it for so long! :( :(

It snowed almost non-stop when I was there last weekend, from the Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon and it was foggy and bloody freezing. Seemed to be no disruption to transport though.

Schiphol seems to have a better infrastructure for dealing with it than most of the airports in the UK so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know during the bad weather a few weeks ago, they had to fly de-icer in from the UK though as they were running out :-)

Thanks, that's put my mind at ease somewhat, still hoping I land before it starts bringing down the heavy stuff, if it all!

Just noticed your PM mate, assume you had a similar experience? Also notice you're a fellow MUFC fan, see the derby just now? I thought it was a brilliant game, well, the second half anyway.

@ Kingdoc, are you in amsterdam at the moment?

yeah it got cancelled on the 13th coz of the snow, didn't matter though the car NEVER fails  you should be ok though, especially if flying from stanstead, they do alot of cargo traffic & cant afford to close the runway, unlike those complete C**TS @ gatwick, they couldn't give a f**k if they ruin peoples plans,
excellent match last nite, no one can ever moan again that we try & influence ref, every single tackle citeh players were in his ear & what about zabaleta trying to get rooney booked for no reason, & then cynically fouling giggs so that he didn't get through on goal, bellamy, shame that bottle/coin didnt give the c**t more damage

I had a fun time both leaving from Schiphol on the 3rd Jan and coming back on the 9th! My flight out was delayed about 20 mins (ppl the day before were on that flight as theirs was cancelled), but coming back my flight was cancelled (from Norwich) and the earlier one had been delayed to catch up with mine.. so even tho it was a different flight no. it left at the same time.. I don't think this was anything to do with the snow, but a business decision to fill the flight! But that's just my take on it..

You can watch #uksnow ( http://uksnow.benmarsh.co.uk/ ) on twitter for snow around the UK and also keep an eye on http://www.schiphol.nl/index_en.html for flight info esp on the same flight the previous day etc..

In Eindhoven, we've had sleet for most of y'day and temperatures from -3C to -7C.. right now it's 2C, so positively tropical!!

There's also a nice radar map for snow over the NL at:
http://www.buienradar.nl/ (it's interactive, just click on the area you want to zoom into)

Good luck and have fun!!
