Smoker friendly hotels?

Post by CitySlicker »

We're planning an Easter trip to Amsterdam. We've always rented an apartment on our previous visits, but since we'll only be staying four nights we figured that maybe a hotel would be a better option. The big question is which hotels still have smoking rooms??? We'd prefer not to stay in a hostel. All suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Me and my partner came back from the Dam after spending 3 nights in the Prinz Hendrik Hotel which is steps away from from the popular Warmoesstraat where many of the coffeshops are. We chose the Hotel because apparantely it was smoker friendly.

In the photos of the hotel rooms they have ashtrays on the tables in the rooms which gives the impression you can smoke in them, but when we asked about whether we could smoke in our room we were told that we can use their designated smoking room... however, the receptionist gave us that look and worded what he said in a way which came across to suggest that smoking isnt permitted, but if you find out a way of doing it in the rooms then you can do it.

The actual main sleeping area has a smoke sensor on the ceiling and we tried to open the front windows of this room but to no avail..... we decided the bathroom was the place to smoke what with no censor there and the breeze from the open would potentially clear any smoke.

We stayed in room 328 where the bathroom is at the back of the hotel and there is a window in the bathroom which opens nice and wide where you can sit and smoke away until your hearts content, although its probably best to smoke in there under the cover of darkness. We personally experienced no hassle regarding smoking in this way and found this accomodation to meet our needs what with location, smoking, free breakfast, tv, and nice sized bath.

Peace
