Is your Android unlocked/sim free? if not you will need it to accept any simcard.

That really blows, Ed...

Hope you get your visa issues sorted out, bud.

If you do get everything back in order, you'll find plenty of cool places near Rozengracht - as has already been mentioned; Paradox, Grey Area and Amnesia spring instantly to mind... (I'd avoid Black Star and Rockland like the plague!)

And if you fancy a bit of culture/history, the Anne Frankhuis is within spitting distance, as is the rather beautiful Westerkerk - also doubles as a handy landmark if you get lost, because it can be seen from quite a distance (I think it's the one of, if not the highest spires in Amsterdam)...

Fingers crossed you get your visa worked out, fella.

I am going to be coming alone and am looking for someone or 'someones' who might like to help a noobie out! I've been in the Orient for over 4 years, but this is my first time visiting Europe...I am also considering a train trip to Frankfurt to visit some relatives, but I would really appreciate some company to experience Amsterdam. Even some advise would be nice. I am staying in a self-catering apartment so smoking and partying will be no problem!

Thanks!

I made it, but the smoke is quite a bit stronger then I'm used to and the streets are icy, so I've done most of my partying in my room. I leave on the 22nd...what should I do with my 'leftovers'?

Next visit, I bring friends!
