Since quitting all tobacco products several years ago I now visit the dam occasionally and smoke pure weed joints which are very nice, flavourful and usually a bit too strong. I realise to get the best taste my choices here are limited to joints or a pipe. The second option I'll try next visit.

My problem comes with hash. The only ways I remember of doing it are crumbled in a joint with tobacco or hot knives and a sawn off bottle

Now I'd like to give hash a try next visit but don't want to smoke it mixed with tobacco or herbal substitutes and hot knives are definitely out!
The other possibility I can think of is to crumble hash into a pure weed joint. That is waaaay too hardcore for me and besides I'd not want to ruin the taste of one with the other.

Now I'm out of ideas and probably will just smoke weed unless anyone can kindly suggest a better alternative?

Any suggestions?

glass pipes are great for smoking hash. get some mesh pipe filters too, and bend one into shape to sit nicely in the bowl. otherwise the hash will just fall inside the pipe!

I use a glass pipe for hash but first I smoke a bit of weed in it so the ash of said weed makes a nice little natural buffer for the hash, those mesh screens are all metallic and tbh I personally dont want to smoke any fumes the metal might give off after some serious smoking.

If you are lucky enough to get hash of a sufficiently high quality, you may have trouble smoking in a pipe as it will tend to liquify and then catch fire.
If this is the case, you should try surrounding a small ball of the hash with ash, as this will give the (liquid) hash some surface to cling to, and it will burn very satisfactorily.

yeah definitely... I'm the same, I like to put the hash on top of a bed of weed. but I've also done it plenty of times with just pure hash.

something else I forgot to mention, I also 'burn in' the screens before using them. I pickup the screen with tweezers and hold it over a flame until its starting to go red. it should at least remove any germs or bugs.

but yeah, try to avoid flaming the screen too much when you're smoking... with hash its not necessary to relight too often as it burns for a long time. sometimes I light the glass pipe and the hash keeps burning long enough to pass around to a few friends

Yep,a pipes the way to go ...its the first thing i buy,when i arrive,a small wooden pipe for €5,then leave it in the last C/S i visit (ie de Kuil)

A glass pipe, I use a steamroller for bigger hits, with a little bed of weed underneath.

When i was smoking hash in the Dam i bought a little cheery wood hash pipe with a screen built in it from a special pipe store it was a size of a penny,really neat.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like my 1st port of call on arriving will be a smartshop.
May I ask what a steamroller is exactly? Sounds like using it may flatten me!

you could always go down the Bucket route, i normally bring all i need to make my own bong

Many years ago we would place some Gum or a small piece of fruit on a table, then stick a needle in it. We stuck a little chunk of hash on the needle then lit it. We covered it with a wine glass then let it fill up with smoke. Then we lifted one side of the glass slightly and sucked the smoke out with a straw. It was quite effective, I haven't done that in a long time, though. You can use any thing that will hold the needle steady and any kind of Glass will probably due.

Hopefully show the 420 crew how i would smoke hash during 420
