Ams Price vrs US price

Post by edwardj »

Hi all,

I am a born and raised US person and our brains are not wired for grams. (or this strange thing called celcius) I realize I could google the difference, and I have but I was just wondering if anyone can give me a comparison both on quality and price toward what you get in Ams.

Heck, in my early days a five finger bag cost $25-30 and you bitched if it was $30! I understand that the quality has gone up from those 'good old days"! BUT does it really cost more to produce today?

Hopefully my visa problem will be solved by May or June and I'll be able to come then. I'm SICK of China (then WHY sign another year? Maybe because I only need to teach 20 hours a week and I have enough money for a decent trip every six months. To hell with the Chinese kids!)

Why do you always feel the need to insult people?

I dont know if you've never heard it before or not but theres a saying that goes; If you dont have anything nice to say then just say nothing.

I suggest you read Lemmings Golden Rule, it can be found here: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3669

In my early days a five finger bag ( which would have been about an oz./28 gm ) cost $10.00
( hint, that was in the early 60's )

Quality has improved immensely and price has gone up commensurately.
Maybe more than it should, but there is still commercial out there going for $ 60.00/0z.

Eighth = 3.5 grams. Street price in my neck of the woods for an eighth = $35-40. The dispensary price for a gram is $20, once again in my little corner of the world. Using today's conversion factor, €10 a gram at an Amsterdam coffeeshop will set you back almost $14.

I used to be a budtender here in the UK ;) and I could eye a gram of hash without the use of scales (I could get it to about 1.1 - 1.2) but you'd be surprised how many people didn't even know anything about weight, I'd get people phone and say how much they wanted in money, the kids today have took on the whole 10 bag and when I ask them how much in weight they are getting for their money they usually say they dont know they just ask for 10/20 bag.

Hit the nail right on the head.

Around my way it's either dimes or dub sacks too. You're more likely to hear about eighths, halves, Oz's & QP's before you would ever hear about someone trying to buy or sell by the gram. I've seen some skimpy $20 sacks and some monstrous dimes though so I guess it all balances out in the end.

But herb by the gram is just not the norm over here for most dealers/smokers. The only time I've ever bought by the gram in my 13 years of smoking was in Amsterdam.

Hey, who remembers those silly little things we used to call nickel bags!?! :D

I am not disagreeing with not understanding grams. Adamster went after his attitude, which I agree was a bit wack.

The question could have been asked differently, in a more open-minded way.
