Patriots/Jets rivalry is fairly recent. I mean they've played each other for years, but the Jets have only recently been good so it's not that hardcore of a rivalry. I'd say the most intense rivalries are in the NFC East with Dallas, Philly, the Giants, and Washington. You're taking your life into your hands if you show up at a Philly home game wearing a Giants jersey.

I was born and grew up in Pennsylvania so I know what I'm talking about. And Sir Niall, once again trying to stir the pot, sure I like the Oregon Ducks, and the Oregon State Beavers, but I'm a Florida State fan. :?

legendary ohio state coach woody hayes car broke down 2 miles from the ohio border while he was driving back. rather than call a tow truck he pushed his car 2 miles or so into ohio so the state of michigan couldn't profit from his misfortune. asked my dads friend who played tight end for osu under woody hayes and he confirmed the story.

I think rivalries are very important to sports man, whats the main NFL ones?
dallas vs wash dc is the biggest i'd say.

Used to be.....had season tickets at RFK...now those were some games....

Primarily because the Jets have sucked for about the last 40 years. Well, that may not be entirely fair, but they have sucked recently. Fact is the teams have played 100 times and the Jets actually lead the series 50 to 49 with one tie. But the Patriots have won the Super Bowl 3 times and have been to the Super Bowl 6 times whereas the Jets were only ever in the Super Bowl once (1968) and won with Joe Namath as quarterback.

There have also been a lot of incidents between the two teams that would be too long to go into detail, but for example in 2007, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was accused of telling his staff to film the Jets' defensive signals which is a violation of the rules,

Also, the new Jets coach in 2009, Rex Ryan told reporters during an interview that he would not kiss Bill Belichick's Super Bowl rings and instructed all Jets' season ticket holders to make it miserable on Tom Brady and the Patriots.

There is a lot of trash talking in the NFL and basically teams that are in the same division engage in this type of behavior quite a bit. Sorry such a long answer but this is about as short as it could be!

I don't think it's quite the same as say a European football match, but I wouldn't recommend going to a Jets' home game wearing a Patriots' jersey unless you were with a group of people. Or, if you did go alone, I would recommend keeping quiet. Part of the problem is all the pregame tailgating which can usually involve a copious amount of alcohol. Bad mix, alcohol and machismo.

To be fair I'm pretty sure I read that the revenue that the Royal family bring into the country is more than what they cost us, I dont have a problem with them myself.

Me too man, it's like a penny per person.

Plus, Prince Phillip rules...

His top quotes....
1. China State Visit, 1986

If you stay here much longer, you’ll all be slitty-eyed.

2. To a blind women with a guide

“Do you know they have eating dogs for the anorexic now?”

3. To an Aborigine in Australia

“Do you still throw spears at each other?”

4. To his wife, the Queen, after her coronation

“Where did you get the hat?”

5. When asked if he would like to visit the Soviet Union

“The bastards murdered half my family”

6. To a Briton in Budapest

“You can’t have been here that long – you haven’t got a pot belly.”

7. To a driving instructor in Scotland

“How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them through the test?”

8. After the Dunblane shooting

“If a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?”

9. To a student who had been trekking in Papua New Guinea

“You managed not to get eaten, then?”

10. To Elton John after hearing Elton had sold his Gold Aston Martin

“Oh, it’s you that owns that ghastly car – we often see it when driving to Windsor Castle.”

11. On the London Traffic Debate

“The problem with London is the tourists. They cause the congestion. If we could just stop tourism, we could stop the congestion.”

12. To the President of Nigeria, dressed in traditional robes

“You look like you’re ready for bed!”

13. Unknown

“If you see a man opening a car door for a woman, it means one of two things: it’s either a new woman or a new car!”

14. On key problems facing Brazil

“Brazilians live there”

15. To the matron of a hospital in the Caribbean

“You have mosquitos. I have the Press”

Can't say as I'd miss them if they weren't there though. While watching the winter olymipics I was thinking why does the UK sing about the king/queen instead of the country, surely 'Land of hope and glory' would make for a better national anthem. I think royalty is an outdated gimmick the rich folk use on the poor, a bit like religion.
