It is only in a test phase in the very south of the country mainly to limit Belgian, German and French visitors. With the government recently collapsing who knows what next year will bring!

It seems just not: http://www.groepwilders.com/website/details.aspx?ID=21

"The Party for Freedom is seeking to reduce crime by punishing people with a life sentence if they commit three violent crimes. Wilders also wants to close down all 'coffee shops', as the tolerated Dutch cannabis bars are known."

I hate Illinois Nazis!

So now that Wilders has won, I'm wondering what the locals think will happen to coffeeshop laws? If they plan on doing something negative (close more shops, end the policy all together, etc.) how quickly do you think that could happen? I just booked a trip for April 2011 and I'm a little nervous that major changes could happen between now and then.

Thanks, shady. After living through 8 years of Bush, I know how quickly things can turn to shit (here at least), so I panicked.

Stupid me. I saw the headline "Wilders is major winner in polls" and assumed that meant the actual election. I'll shut up now.

No worries, even if he wins the most votes, he may not even be in the Government.
