A practical thought.

I have always believed in the school of thought that the less bud is handled, the more effective it will be. Less handling would prevent major trichome loss, which as we all know contains the active ingredient that we all seek, THC.
When looking at a container of gear at a C/S, I typically see buds of various sizes and shapes. Unless the distributor delivers only large sized buds (colas), I don't think there would be a problem finding a 0.5gm nugget.
I have lost count the number of times a budtender broke apart bud in order to attain the exact weight that was paid for. With this thought in mind, I don't think breaking up buds into little pieces, for the sake of making weight, is an issue.
Something that I had thought of after posting my comments was that maybe the scales used measure only in gram increments and not 0.1gm. This thought does have merit, but I'm leaning more towards my original theory.

Peace.

You'd rather have 1 piece than several smaller ones though wouldn't you, the little bits that get broke off probably end up in the pre-rolls.

I love the sight of a BIG BUD-DY! ':D' Truth be told, I love the sight of green, period.
As for pre-rolls, small buds and shake. Probably mostly shake.
I must admit I've had some pretty good shake, and to top it off, received some excellent deals as well.
For me personally, I usually buy the maximum allowed, unless I know the budtender and there is some really nice gear. Then maybe I will ask for a little more. Want the name of the C/S and budtender? Not going to happen. Doh.......(Homer Simpson)

Peace.
