Smoke Report - 22-24 Feb 2010

Post by True Playa »

I'm not one to write up a whole essay about where i walked, what i was wearing, what the weather was like etc...all i care about is the smoke and here is what i smoked and what i thought...

Mango Haze - Sheeba - Think i got had up here, smelt like amnesia haze and gave me a harsh throat...nice but would have been nice if it tasted like Mango!

Ultra Lemon Bio Haze - Stone's - This was obviously the super lemon haze...to be honest it tasted nice, but that was it. Nothing special, just as people have been saying for ages!

OG Kush
- Green Place - I had been looking forward to this for a long time and i wasn't disappointed. I was expecting the taste to be more fuely but it seemed to be fuely/herbal in taste...like nothing i've really had before. Nice and strong though, good indica buzz.

Silver Bubble - Green Place - I tried this from GA last year but thought as the headband and casey jones were running low i'd try this as it was fresh. Again, didn't disappoint, nice hazey-bubblegum flavour and a nice high.

Utopia Haze - Amnesia - This was the freshest thing they had, the rest including the top dawg, g13, etc all seemed average...no raw stink, average buds etc. Didn't blow me away like i expected, nice fruity haze taste but not noticably better than any other haze strains i had.

L.A. Woman - Grey Area - Smelled really nice in the tub, but i got given small pieces and as it was an indica i saved it for the evening. Then i got the headband and ended up neglecting to smoke this until the last day so by then it had degraded into a bag of dust through being in my pocket all day long. Me and my g/f smoked a gram joint before leaving for the station so i can't really give this an accurate review as i can't even remember.

Purple Wreck - Grey Area - This was really nice, but the tub was only half-full, i bought it anyway but think that a fresher example could have been one of my strains of the trip. Had a nice fruity blackcurrant type smell and taste, quite strong. A nice introduction to the 'purple' family for me.

Chocolope - Grey Area - Didn't get round to trying this last year so i made sure this time i sampled it. Very nice chocolatey-taste, not that strong but i can make allowances for bud that exceeds in other areas.

Sour Diesel - Hunter's - A little disappointing, it smelled and tasted nice but it didn't have the raw stink and heavy taste i was looking for.

100% Sativa (Quaze)
- Hunter's - Very nice. I am a big fan of this strain, love the lemony taste and thick smoke, one of my best purchases of the trip.

Vanilla Kush
- Popeye's - I had been looking for a nice example of this and Popeye's was the freshest, stinkiest version i could find. Tasted exactly how it smelled, nice and strong. Definitely recommend it to those who like the tastier strains.

Top Floor (Sour D x PP)
- Mellow Yellow - This was really nice, had the sourness of the diesel and the lemony notes of the powerplant. I was looking for the sleazestick and the s5 haze but the top floor was the best they had IMO.

Heaven Haze - Basjoe - A little disappointing, purely because it was hard to distinguish it against the other hazes i had bought. I guess alot of hazes are very similar. The cheese and the Bas special weren't looking too special either, do they always keep their weed in plastic bags? Could this be affecting freshness?

Headband - Greenplace - Woah. This was without doubt the strongest thing i smoked the whole trip, and with a very good flavour too. I made the mistake of smoking a fat one mid-afternoon...damn my head felt heavy. You see where it gets the name? My g/f and i had a big spliff before bed and the next morning her brain seemed to still be in sleep mode as it took her nearly 10 seconds to respond to any question i had! If you want a heavy heavy indica, i highly reccomend this.

Silver Pearl
- HGF - This was also a really nice smoke. Really sweet flavour with a relaxing cerebral high. Aesthetically this was also one of the best things i had, really pretty bud. Was a bit annoyed to find this one late in the trip as i'd have liked to smoke more of it.

Honourable mentions - Weed my mates had that was worth mentioning.

So Gouda - Hunter's
Red Diesel - Barney's
Casey Jones - GreenPlace
Cheese - HGF

Thanks for the reviews! It's nice to see contrasting opinions on recent travelogues, reminds you to keep an open mind to strains, even if they've received sub-par reviews from someone

makes me think they might really vary from batch to batch. Thanks for the weed write ups. Got a good list building up to try now for next trip. Wonder how much of a good strategy that is if weeds seem to come and go as much as they do in Amsterdam.

I plan on making Green Place my home base come April and I'm more of an indica lover so I'll be on the lookout for that Headband. Nice writeup.

The blueberry cheese from Green Place has been the best weed I've had in Amsterdam so far. Will be looking to top that next trip.

I was also thinking the same, been trying to compile a list of strain's and shop's i have to try/visit and i guess the best thing to do is to just look at a selection and pick the freshest. Going to be wounded if the HGF cheese is off

On my last trip the Headband from Greenplace was the 2nd best smoke of my trip, as always the Cheese from Homegrown Fantasy was top dog :-)

Nice write up and descriptions
