We are calling upon Dutch coffeeshops to strike on JUne 9!!

That is why I am calling on all my colleagues to join me in a Coffeeshopstrike on June 9, 2010, Electionday.
WE want our customers, who are known for not voting normally, to go and vote for a cannabis-friendly political party, and we want them to experience how it feels to find their coffeeshops closed. We also want to raise press attention for the problematic situation of the Dutch Coffeeshops. The message I wrote to my colleague's is on the website, MileHigh is working on an English translation, which will be posted as soon as he is done. Go have a look and do the poll, it is already in english, push the translatebutton....thanks...

good idea imo. although i bet some of the coffeeshops will stay open knowing others will be closed..giving them more business. for it to have the wanted effect everyone including customers will have to participate?

I think the best approach would be to get a "Grass Roots" movement going now. If you can get locals from from every area of every city to stress the urgency to there peers, there may be a good turn out for Election day. Posters, banners and a phone campaign would be a good idea. I don't know if a boycott would work or not. Coffee Shop owners would have a better gauge of that. I do agree with Cantona7 that many CFs will probably stay open ,which would soften the impact of a strike.

Sorry bud. Still, it would be a good day to take in that Boom barge cruise where you can toke up. Or to take a brewery tour at t' IJ. Or to get stoned in Vondelpark. Finish up with a big fat spliff at a smoker friendly pub and raise a glass to the spirit of coffeeshop solidarity.

He (Nol) wants the coffeeshops to shut on the voting day so they can go and vote for someone who isn't out to close the coffeeshops down, 1 day is all they need.
