What sort of reputation do Australians have, if any?

You like having your shrimp on the barbie.

I have known one Australian personally, and she was really cool. My first reaction to any Australians I meet is "they are chill and open minded". Sure you all have your fair share of dumbasses too.

Funnily enough, every time I've been on a foreign speaking country, I've been mistaken as an America.

yea? that seems like it would be hard to do. theres nothing similiar at all between American and Australian accents. i think you guys may be a bit more behaved than our bunch too.

I think it's because the actual Aussie accent is not really as strong as you hear on TV - not like Steve Irwin or Crocodile Dundee. The actual accent is pretty obscure, and many people don't know what it is when they hear it. It's not as distinctive as America. In places like the US, I've been mistaken for British a few times, but in Europe, American.

"Americano"? etc. etc.
