Newbie to Amsterdam, Going Out Thursday
Hi guys, cracking forum you have here I have been doing much browsing on it lately. Sadly I'm very much a newbie to all this so I am just absorbing all your information and at present not joining in discussions. When I get back I'll be able to join in with all the banter!
I'm going out to 'Dam for my first time on Thursday, been smoking for about 6 years now. I normally only smoke once or twice a month really with friends. Both my friend and I decided we were ready to go out to Dam and see what we're missing out on. So many people I know have gone and said it's amazing so we thought it was time to try it for ourselves.
We're going from Thursday-Sunday, hopefully should give us a time to browse around a bit. We're both quite interested in seeing a few places (Heineken Factory, Anne Franks house etc.)
Basically, there are so many varied opinions on here on where to go and what to buy, what do you recommend for people who don't smoke very often, but when they do smoke can handle it? (Both pretty big guys, noticed a lot of bud round here doesn't have a massive effect at times.)
Really keen to hear you guys opinions, I've spoken to a few people who have been out there before but they don't mention most of the places mentioned on here so I'm thinking they mainly hit the commercial spots.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

You ask for a good smoke? I would recommend my all-time-favorite NYC Diesel...
The last one I had was from De Kuil (Cafe 420) and I fell instantly in love with it!
According to this forum Hunters should have a decent batch of NYCDiesel, too.
If you guys can take a hit, then why not smoke anything that you find...
Just take a look at the buds and ask the budtenders. They will nearly always recommend the right thing for you.
I am also a non-regular smoker but when in A´dam there is really no problem in smoking all the "good" stuff. Just take it easy on the beginning.
After one night you´ll be fully accomodated to the local conditions!

Hey man thanks for the response.
I was told to avoid Diesel by a hardcore smoker I know as he said it literally made him go into 100% mong mode for the longest he's ever been in it for haha.
Thing is, when I say we can take a hit, I have nothing to compare it to. I've always got bud from the same guy around my area and I've never really tried much else. I'm pretty sure it's crap bud and we just have to smoke a lot of it to get the desired effect.
I've never had the "high" bud, Laughing Buddha was recommended to me for that. I was told to get this from Barneys but they said to get it and go somewhere else as Barneys isn't very relaxing? I've only ever smoked mongy bud and I'm really looking forward to trying this.
I shall give Diesel a shot though, hell I'm out there for 4 days I'm sure I'll recover if it nearly kills me haha
Thanks again man, I'll take your advice onboard!

Homegrown Fantasy - Cheese is a must try, im sure after 1 gram you and your mates will be going back for more.
Other good shops to visit, Paradox, GreenPlace, Mellow Yellow, Katsu (gotta try the infamous Black Widow from here), Siberie, and of course the commercial shops Dampkring and Barneys are worth a visit
If your looking for somewhere to visit, try the Van Goth museum, my favourite tourist attraction apart from the coffeeshops
For food, the New York Bagel shop, just down the road from Bluebird hits the right spot when you got the munchies
Have a good trip bro, and dont get stuck in the centrum and Red Light District for 2 much of ure trip (unless thats ure thing of course)

This black widow seems to be getting some serious recommendations!
Shame most of these coffeeshops arent on the map on this site, woulda been helpful to know exactly where they are, shouldnt be a prob though.
Will definitely add van gogh museum to my places to visit, THANKS for reminding me totally forgot that!
Haha, I'll be in that bagel shop like crazy then
Thanks for the advice man, I'll be sure to enjoy my trip and not let the whores waste too much precious bud smoking time!

Katsu is Down near the Albertcuyp Market. If you use Google Maps, its easy to find.
https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/ZoneG.html thats the link to all the shops around that Area.
And here is a link to this sites map of a few shops in that Area. https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/MapMarket.html
Have a good trip, and welcome aboard.
Edit, I was typing as Liquid replied.

Thanks for the help to both of you, not always a bad thing being forum geeks when you're both helpful haha.Twichaldinho wrote:Katsu is Down near the Albertcuyp Market. If you use Google Maps, its easy to find.

Didn't realise there's another map, my bad on that part. Still can't seem to find Hunters am I being ridiculous and not realising?!
I will be taking my Blackberry which has Google maps on it, doesn't seem to know landmarks or places though which is a bit of a bummer.
The places all seem quite close together so after a wander I should be able to find most places I hope. I'm sure I can get chatting to some locals/budsmokers who can navigate me otherwise.
If you and your mates aren't seasoned smokers I would suggest using Vaporizers. Coffeeshop Anyday, La Turtila and Katsu all have Verdampers which are superb Vaporizers. By the way, The Black Widow at Katsu is a pretty heavy Indica, it would be a better night time smoke. Also if you go to the Ann Frank house you are just a block from Paradox, one of my favorite Coffeeshops. They have some good food and 5 Euro deals on some really good Cannabis. Enjoy your trip dude.
Thanks mate, what are vaporizers? New to those..Cal X wrote:If you and your mates aren't seasoned smokers I would suggest using Vaporizers. Also, thanks for the warning about black widow, guess that'll be a nighttime experiment haha.
Does anyone know of any cafe's that play hip-hop/rap/reggae?
Where are peoples favourite places to just chill? A few people have recommended buying bud from Barneys and going somewhere else to relax as it's not too easy to in Barneys.
youll love it, maybe hold off on diesel, black widow and cheese till the evening there pretty strong and might leave you in a mess. vaporizers are great, but so are bongs.if you go to Heineken brewery go on the front row of the beer bottle ride (and worth popping into mellow yellow before hand). you will get lost plenty of times so good map skills are a must, print out the main ACD map and i normally make maps up for hard to reach places just in case im a mess. definitely try to pop down the de pijp area or pop into Haarlem. most of all watch out for those bloody bikes
