i am going to amsterdam for my first time this summer. cant beleive i live so close and have never been. ive heard good things about it but i doubt it can compete with ibiza for shear drug-taking-lunacy. everyone go to ibiza. i have to take my girl with me so cant go too mad, but shes the type of girl that would go to a strip club for a laugh. another thing amsterdam will have to live up to the strip clubs in ibiza. so basicly for an amsterdam virgin has anyone any recomendations of places to go? places to buy weed? shes an artist and i heard some famous artist was from there so that will keep her occupied while me and the boys breath in the rest of the sights

being your first trip, dont worry about what coffeeshop just avoid grasshoppers, bulldogs and your do fine. been to Ibiza and was nothing on Amsterdam, youll love it, and want to come straight back. i would advise on the how not to get run over by a bike document (the bikes are dangerous) but saying that only nearly got hit about 10 this trip which is low for me

Check out the forum - look around - you'd be surprised what you find :)

the coffee shop reviews has some great info - good places to go also check out trip reports - usually very up to date and you really get some good tips if you read them

Ibiza was the only place i've came home from where i was more fucked up than amsterdam. Two totally different places, full of cool people, beautiful women and pissed up tossers. Love em both, hope you will too. 8) 8)

Your artist girlfriend will have to visit the Van Gogh museum. I checked it out last year during one of my visits and it brought me out in goose bumps and tears to my eyes as I stood in front of some of his paintings - mind you, I was well stoned. On display are his real paintings, not copies. Entrance was 15 Euros, but go on a weekday to avoid the queues. In the same area, the Ouderskade, just south of Leidseplien square, is also the Rijksmuseum.

I agree with the comments on the sex clubs, only go if you are prepared to spend many Euros.

For good strains of weed and where to get them, check out Island girl's report here in the forum under Travel Plans during and after - 4/20 begins. I was supposed to be there next week, but some f*****g volcano has put the mockers on it. :(

That Vincent bloke that cut off his left arm then used it to paint a picture of himself with no ears?

I loved that museum. Went in and started tripping, the big problem was that it was the first time I took my GF to the Dam and she is a non smoker. ooops... All the clicking and shuffling of shoes and the mass of nnoise from the different languages screaming into peoples ears on them headphone things.. WOW... mad as fuck... :D

As people have said which ones to avoid, check out the Amsterdam map on this site and the trip reports and you will have a blast.
:D
