I pose this question...

What do you look for when picking out bud ?

Here at home I have to take whatever I can get so not sure what to look for ....

I know budtenders will be helpful - but wanted your take ...

do you look for crystals, threads, hairs.... sorry for so many questions just new to bening able to choose bud!!

If you don't know what you like then it's probably not going to make much difference to you whatever you end up smoking. Some people prefer certain strains, some people prefer indicas or sativas etc.. Personally, I go with crystals (trichomes) and smell. If you don't know what good bud smells like, nobody can really help you there.

Besides, that you can go over numerous threads here where many people talk about purchasing/smoking same specific strains and which CS sell them, so if you want to go with what most people prefer here, you can go that route, just search this forum. Probably easier to go with the recommendations, I mean some people use jewelers magnifying glass to see the trichomes to determine what's good to them. If you're naturally not that picky, then I wouldn't worry about it. Anyway, if you have to ask these types of questions, I'm sure whatever you get you'll be satisfied with.

1. Read this and other forums to see what Gear people are raving about.

2. Go to the shops where the above gear was purchased by the satisfied poster.

3. Ask the Bud Tender if your choice is well grown and cured and it is
something that they recommend.

4. If the Bud Tender agrees with your selection, or suggests something else,
ask if you can see it. Don't touch it without asking first.

5. If the Bud is full of Crystals, dense and stinky it's probably a good choice.
Hash is a little harder to judge by this method. Ask if it is fresh.

6. Purchase the gear and try it out for yourself. If you like it report your
findings on this forum so others can repeat this process. Enjoy!

Something for Newbie 2 dah Dubbie and all newbies: trust the bud tenders, especially those from reputable establishments. Which establishments would those be you ask? Use the search Luke. There are also plenty of pictures on this website that should also do the trick. Use the search Luke.

I have been reading a lot and complying lists of names of weed and where to get. Sounds like there are some pretty good stuff there - photos are awesome!

I was more or less asking say we are in a shop - I don't have on my list -- or there is something i think I might like on the menu but would like some tips on being able to look at weed and kind of tell if it is quality - ie pay more money for or not a good deal.

I'm also trying to understand the different types - although on the site in threads - some questions I have aren't necessarily answered outright - I get basic jist

I've gather that -
- the siliva strains are more for your day time wanta be fucntional
- the india (sp?) are more for a night time sleep out of it high

I've seen photos - to gather that crystally weed seemed to get a lot of response on the site - so take it that is a good thing

You can mix weed with hash - or use hash alone

I'll check out those links see if I can gain even more info

It's sativa and indica ^^
And it's quite hard to smoke hash alone (apart in a pipe or a bong), it's better to mix it with weed or tobbaco

Indica: Provides the stone (body: couch lock, munchies, etc...)
Hybrids/crosses: These are the types that you will encounter the most.

Disclaimer: As with any stimulant, people have different reactions and levels of tolerance. Generally speaking, the lowest priced gear tends to be the weakest and the highest priced the strongest. You will also discover the highest priced cannabis is almost always a Sativa.

As for Hash, if you are a true "Newbie 2 dah Dubbie", you may want to proceed with caution, at least initially. Read (some more) about Hash and you will understand why. Arguably, the best Hash in the world can be found in Amsterdam.

Well I do smoke everyday ... hehehe but again only on the stuff we can get around here I don't get to really pick what I smoke -- sad I know We have a vap at home which I LOVE!!!

never tried hash and I've had good bud here and there - but wouldn't be able to tell you the name or even kind ---

I appreciate your description - I plan on starting on the lighter side work my way up if needed - I don;t want to be super zonked that I can't remember and enjoy the good times.

I've read about some kinds that help increase your libido a bit.. I made note to try

I just want to kind of have a general idea so i won't be so intimidated when i go and won't look too much like a dork

You're thinking too much. All you need to know is, "puff, puff, pass".

Just be glad to be able to experience Amsterdam, smoking or not, just having the opportunity to be there at all, is good enough in my eyes. Just go with the flow, do what you want, just enjoy the freedom.

Ok man, I apologize again for my comments. I didn't know it got so serious here. As for emoticons, I don't do that. Either you get it or you don't, and they haven't been around since the beginning of time and I'm sure people found a way to get along before them. I mean do you really have to treat people like children here, or what? People can't handle themselves or something? Fuck's sake..Get a backbone..
