First Trip
Hi me & a mate will be in the "dam" our first trip here too from April 1st - 5th and are staying in a hotel on Leidseplein and was wondering how far it is from central station - walking distance or get a tram as my mate is big boned & not keen on walking long distances? Looked at the map but not good at judging distances....

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.
Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.
How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

How not to get hit by a bike
this document may be found in the excellent S G Collins website recommended by FlyByNite for first-time visitors to amsterdam
imho reading this document is the very most important preparation you can do to ensure your own safety in amsterdam traffic, because being hit by a bicycle could ruin your day ...
if you have already read the document, then thanks, but if not, then please please read before you arrive, and thanks
it is walkable, but with luggage i would suggest taking the tram, the numbers 1, 2 and 5 all get you to leidsepleinoceanryder wrote:... and are staying in a hotel on Leidseplein and was wondering how far it is from central station - walking distance or get a tram
without luggage amsterdam is a lovely place to walk around ...
have a great trip ...
