Strains for a beginner?

Post by Rothbury »

I've never smoked weed before and I'm going to Amsterdam for a few months. I'm intending on being part of the coffee shop scene pretty heavily.

What strains should I be looking to smoke my first few times so I don't over do it? Also what are some good coffee shops for a first timer, small chilled out places is what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome the forum Rothbury.

Never smoked before, damn, well my advice is take your time, decide what you enjoy (weed, hash) & what kind of high suits you.

Milder strains I would recommend you try are:

Thai, Jamaican, Crystal, Skunk #1, Orange Bud (Weed)
Pollen, Super Pollen, Zero Zero & Other Blonde, Soft types (Hash)

Have a blast.....in every way. 8)
10 B&H + a packet of rizla,not the greens

Rothbury just walk in a shop and tell them you dont want something too strong.. tell them its your first time smoking...make sure you have something to drink « in case you statr felling weird sick... « cause it could happen since your boby never add THC in you blood ;)

the strains Deathrow put up is what you should look for! or weak sativa

have fun dont over do it the first time ;)

think you will like dampkring 2. everything in there 7.5 euro range (white choco, white russian, bubblegum) and work your way up. you should like 420 coffeeshop very chilled and relaxed.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've been told before that prices will usually give an indication of the strength, so that will be helpful. I've also been told of the warmness of the bud tenders so thats great too.

But would it be a good idea to just steer clear of hash altogether at the start?

Which Dampkring are you referring to?

I kinda disagree with that, Indica's ( the strong, couch-lock weeds ) tend to be cheaper than Sativas, unless its a new strain, where the shop can get away with charging for the novelty of its new - ness :D

For instance, a well grown White Widow ( rough price of €7-8 ) will kick your Ass, but will not break the bank. However, smoking the Dr Grinspoon ( €17 a gram ) will offer you knowhere near as much wallop for yer pennies.

So in short, dont just buy the most expensive item on the menu, you'll end up poor, and perhaps, a little disapointed.
Endure

I would recommend just buying a gram of whatever takes your fancy and splitting it into 3 or 4 even size(roughly)pieces that way you'll get 3 or 4 j's outa the gram and just take it easy

I agree with that. White Widow or White Russian are too fairly strong strains and usually priced under €9.

Hey mate...Tell to budtender that it is your first time.He/she will give you some appropriate wiet/hashj...Always talk to those people they now their stuff in most cases..
Whatever you buy take your time with it :!:
Take few puffs and wait for like 5-10 minutes. If you do not feel anything take few puffs more.Than wait again...repeat until you get the effect.
Don't rush!If you rush with it,it could become a nightmare for you.
Have something sweet, candy bar or some chocolate in your pocket. That is for emergency.Eat it if you have a bad trip.
Go easy as i have described it and you should be fine.Nothing really bad can't happen but if you take too much you can feel paranoia, anxiety, panic attacks,nausea...
Have i said that you go easy and that you should not take too much??
Bare in mind that stuff that you can buy in Netherlands is among strongest cannabis known to man..
Hope this helps!

Be careful with the Orange Bud from Basjoe, it's the strongest I've ever tried of that strain. Is Sweet Tooth still around? That's very mellow and tasty, great for not overdoing it. I used to buy it at Barneys, the Willie Nelson is a nice strain too if they still have that there.

I like strong weed, but appreciate flavor as well. Chocolope would qualify for what you're looking for also, imo. I don't consider it to be strong, but that's relative to my high tolerance, perhaps.

Have a fun, safe trip.

Everyone has given good advice so I just want to throw my two cents in.

My advice would be to mark the route from Centraal Station to Basjoe's and head directly there. If James is working whip out your map and mention that you're an ACDer. This doesn't guarantee you the best piece of hash, or nicest bud, but what it does do is let James know that you're informed and speaking with a good group of people. Mention that you're a total newbie to marijuana and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

BTW, they also have the perfect menu for you. There's either a Jamaican or Thai there and it's going to be around €3/gram. That would be the PERFECT weed to start with. Then move up to the Orange Bud (which they also carry) and progress from there.

Please just have a ton of fun and be safe...that's all we ask :D

Right now, call a friend who can get you some weed, preferably mild. In the comfort of your own home, try a little and see if you even like it. Ask a friend to be there with you, maybe even smoke some with you. Ask your friend to take note of your behavior. I always thought that experimenting or starting out with any type of drug (including alcohol), should be done at home or somewhere familiar like a m8s flat or a cool uncle's place. '8)' With weed, paranoia can be a bitch, more so with first timers and newbies. Better to sort out any irregularities in private than when sitting in a crowded C/S. I have personally witnessed first timers freaking out in a C/S, and it's not a pretty sight. C/S workers know exactly what I am talking about. Oh the drama. ''
If you smoked too much of some potent gear, better hold on boo boo. If it's creeper weed, you won't even know what hit you. ''
Your choice.
Peace.
