This presentation includes video clips shot with a Traveler HD 10X Digital Video Camera and digital photos taken with a Traveler Slimline XS digital camera.

Sunday, 12 April: My second week in Europe and I am staying in Amsterdam at the Greenhouse Effect Hotel. On this early Sunday morning, I pay a visit to the Greenhouse Effect Coffeeshop where I am allowed to shoot some video as the shop prepares for a busy day.

This friendly shop is a great added bonus to the terrific Hotel and Bar which I have covered quite extensively in other videos. Hotel guests are given special deals and discounts on their purchases at the Coffeeshop and at the Bar.

In this video, you'll see exterior shots of the Bar & Hotel and the Coffeeshop. Stepping inside, we'll see the popular window table seats and a view of the entire length of the shop. You'll see artwork on the walls, the souvenir cases and the Dealer's Booth as well as the service counter for drinks and refreshments.

Learn more about The Greenhouse Effect by visiting the official Greenhouse Effect website located here:

Dude, your videos are what inspired me to stay at the GHE for my virgin visit. Much appreciated!

Booked the Red Man room but they "messed up" and I had to SETTLE for the Tropical Dreams suite at the same Red Man rate.

Great times, Ruth was the bomb diggz and my free complimentary lighter still works!

Wow! I'm flattered. When was your first visit to the Greenhouse Effect? I am glad you enjoyed your stay there.

They have THE BEST complimentary breakfast for the Hotel guests. That's something I like about staying there, and they serve from 9am until 12 noon so you have plenty of opportunity to have breakfast or brunch... or both.

The location is really convenient. The Hotel is only 10 minutes walking to Centraal Station. Warmoesstraat is a great street, vibrant and exciting, with some excellent coffeeshops, bars and restaurants, and among all these great places, the Greenhouse Effect is special.

It has been a a lot of fun documenting the Bar and Hotel and some of the changes and upgrades that have been implemented over the past 11 years.

Thanks for viewing my videos, I am glad you enjoyed them.

Stayed this past April and looking to book again for 4/20 week next year.

And your right, the breakfast was great and helped save me a ton of money and those chocolate cookies were so damn good I had to take like 2 or 3 every morning for later on in the night. :P

Ruth also let us store our luggage there after we checked out due to my flight departing later that evening.

Gave us an extra few hours to explore the 'Dam without having to lug our bags around.

definitly my favourite bar/cofee shop to chillin in.

had some nice super silver haze as my first purchase when i went saturday.

also on last day when i was totally baked and drunk, in the bar, eavesdropped a WEIRD situation with some crackhead scottish bird and a dark skinned dutch oman who looked like a harpee! then a man direct from the text book of "sleazy moroccan men who hang about at bars waiting to pick up women" was saying to the scottish woman (who was locked out of someones house she was crashing at) "come to mine, ihave food, alcohol, music, a warm pillows.."!

trust me was hilaruious at the time... 8)

Yeah, another BIG fan - the wife and I booked the GLOBAL FUSION apartment on Nieuwmarkt for 6 nights this October/November (1 night at the less desirable MARKT apartment downstairs). It's our 2nd visit to the GHE apartments (and the big #10 for Amsterdam!) and, I got to tell ya, their service could NOT be better! From the check in girl to the guys setting up the bar at 9:00am to the budtender and guy that cleaned our room - EVERYONE was helpful and super cool. Throw in the discount at the coffeeshop (and don't forget they're about the only apartment that accepts credit cards!) and it was a no-brainer!

Greenhouse-Effect deal or no deal

Hiya, i'm going to stay in the greenhouse-effect and wanted to know if it's worth using my 10% discount in the coffee shop to buy 5grms worth all at the same time in there, ie. can I buy enough good stuff there. Opinions please. Love, Mr.Tickles Tours

Hi mate, in all honesty and this is my own personal opinion through my experience of smoking a couple of their strains of weed, i wasnt blown away, but weed changes in quality and strength etc, therefore the weed you buy might knock you for six, but i dont want to get your hopes up. Northern lights and The Greenhouse special i tried and wasnt impressed. Maybe if i tried other strains i might've had found something to do the job. The CS is nice though, and has a good feel about it, plus they play some good beats to smoke to.

I personally wouldnt buy 5 grams from there and would get some smoke from Hunters which is just a lil further along on the same side. Hunters has a better selection, and they have consitantly good weed which does what its meant to do to me :)

Peace

As much as I loved the hotel and bar, just wasn't feeling the coffeeshop branch of GHE.

Went in last year and waited on line for a bit but the underwhelming menu & tight quarters had us walking out the door shortly thereafter, I think to HSB and their big, comfy couches.

I personally wouldn't buy 5 grams at any one shop. I enjoy sampling different strains from different shops. I have always found the White Widow and the Greenhouse Special at the GHE to be quite consistent. So, asking for the hotel guest discount on your purchase of a gram or 2 of something you want to sample makes perfect sense. Other than the Greenhouse Effect, some shops I have been to which have had good quality product include Pablow Picasso, El Guapo and Amnesia. There are a lot of other shops I've been to that also have good product but I find these 3 to give you good value for your money as well as an interesting place to relax and enjoy a toke. Having said that, I will recommend that you try as many different strains as possible from as many different shops as possible. If you're traveling with a friend and you are both going to make a purchase, you should both purchase different starins and then you can sample from each other. I know you'll have a blast. Be sure to spend some time in the Greenhouse Effect Bar, they allow you to smoke weed in there, regardless of where you purchased it. Enjoy the happy hour discount on your drinks all day because you're staying at the Hotel, just flash your key to get your discounts in the bar and coffeeshop. Check out my videos on YouTube for some footage from Amsterdam and some coffeeshops too. http://www.youtube.com/DRA999
