Safe to take my DSLR??
As well as smoking whilst I am in AMS in 2 weeks I'm just wondering how safe it would be to take my DSLR camera with me?? I know I will be smoking alot but I always take care and I am overly vigilant if I have any item of value on my person.
Has anyone else on here taken theirs?? Ever been any problems??
Also, I have taken out travel insurance just in case.
Cheers Guys.

Yeah, I wasn't going to take my top end one. I have a Nikon D5000 which is the one I take places where I think there might be a risk. It is all covered on my travel insurance (including the 2 lenses I am gonna take with me).
Thanks for your responses. I just want some great photos of a beautiful City (and some beautiful bud)

No problems taking it with you.
Last year, my buddy and I both brought our DSLR's (Nikon D60 and Sony A230). I brought an all-purpose lense and my buddy brought 2 extra ones (macro, etc.).
We generally only took his camera around during the day, and took care of it. Only a few tips / notes:
1. Be careful walking around at night with it in your hands. As safe as amsterdam is, you never know who's watching. I say this because when you're stoned, walking out of a CF, it's going to take you 12 seconds to realize someone just ran past you and grabbed the camera. I say this in prudence; no one has ever tried to rob me there.
2. Be careful with your bags in CF's. If you think about it, some shops are pretty squished (grey area?) and you end up putting your bags under the table or something. Be careful not to kick, bang the bag against a solid object, or forget the bag there.
3. Because you're taking a DSLR, you can take photos in CF's politely. What I mean is, if you had a simple digi cam, you gotta use flash or indoor shots look like a shit n a half. With a DSLR, you can just turn up ISO and shutter sleep to make up for lack of light. No flashes in other stoners' faces = polite IMO.
Enjoy! Post some shots when you're back. MMMMMMM yummy macro weed shots

I;d say you'll be fine. Don;t take it in the Red Light District. Dont leave it in a CS.
