Boarder Patrol

Post by Twitch »

It finally happened.
After at least ten trips to California to visit daughter and grand-kids and to condo shop I was finally asked to make a donation.
I have always brought about an eight with me and never had a problem with the Border Patrol check points.
They are usually looking for illegal immigrants and ignore us, but his time the Afghan Gooey must have smelled especially strong because the dog fell in love with our car as he walked past it.( This is on the California Side luckily )
The agent asked as jokingly if we has anyone hidden in the car and then asked us to pull over to the side.
He asked if there were any drugs in the car and I said yes and gave him the baggie with the 1/8.
He said he appreciate my honesty and that there was nothing he hated more than people who denied it when the dog obviously hit on some thing and made their job more difficult by making them search your car.
He checked to see if I had any outstanding warrants, saw that I didn't, and told me I had an option.
Asked if I saw the garbage can in the corner and when I said I did he said I had two choices, take the baggie and throw it in the can and leave, or wait for the Sheriff's police and take my chances with them. ( $ 100.00 fine on the spot. ).
Guess what I did.
While throwing the baggie in the can I noticed many other small baggies with Small amounts in them in this can.
Wonder what happens to these small amounts????????
Any way, my dauhter has a friend who was able to replace my 1/8 so wasn't a complete loss, and now I know not to bring it over any more, will just pre-order with daughter's friend when coming out.

This is why I always treat law enforcement with respect, whether they deserve it or not. I have been let off many times when faced with real trouble.

Of course, in the US, it never hurt that I was white either.

Has nothing to do with race, just that I treated them with honesty and respect.
One of them was Mexican-American , one was Black, and the rest were White.
I was in California, coming from Arizona, very close to the Mexican border.
Just glad it wasn't in Arizona, my home state, as I would have most likely been busted.

Glad to hear you got through it without any major trouble. Is this border check carried out all along the Ariz/Cal border or just down Mexico way?
I just re-read your post and understand now....it was the US/Mex border patrol that stopped you not the Ariz/Cal border patrol....old and senile here sorry.... 8)
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

How come you had to go through a border anyway, aren't Arizona and California both in the US?

california has to have borders. one of the few i can think of. they arent after drugs as much as illegals and in my experience are mostly after people bring fruits and veggies into cali. i got stopped last week and had to turn over my texas grape fruits. california grows so much produce that if an infected fruit got in with blight or something it could destroy the harvest and hurt their already nearly destroyed economy.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.

Actually through the state line border, this was just a check point for illegals and drugs primarily.( no dogs there or they were busy )
Mainly because the road we take is very close to Mexican border. If we were to take U.S. 10 we would not have any problems and not see any check points, would just add about 2 hours to trip.
San Diego is in South California.
I know that my " guy " brings it in from Cali, but he come in from 10, so if I were to try that again I would just add the 2 hours to my trip.

What Cantona says about the actual State line Border is true, they are mainly looking for fruits and veggies.

yea checkpoints are more commin in places near the mexican border. my friend lives in san antonio and when he visits his friends down in mccallen he has to go through one. i think they are mainly after illegals and mexican black tar.

So the US is just a police state now? no offence but the fruit & veggie thing sounds like an excuse, you're talking about neighbouring states not foreign countries.

Now you know why I'll still choose Amsterdam over Cali. I can't knock the sunshine though.
