No Boner, they have been doing this since I was a kid in the 50's.
The California orange crop was wiped out by some bug brought in by an out side source from some one bringing in fruit and it just about wiped out their economy.
My family lived there when I was 5 to 11 years old.

in the late 60s i knew of a classmate driving back east to start the new term of university who was stopped in arizona for some minor highway motoring issue, was arrested, thrown in jail and his long hair cut short ... no drugs were involved

we didn't see him back east for more than a month or so ...

Nice sentiment but EU law states that customs agents may roam anywhere within their country....anywhere. In the US the border patrol may only operate within a close distance to the actual international border.

Depends on where you are coming from.
Are you driving ?
Only real problem would be Border Patrol.
If you were actually busted with it for some reason other than BP we are not a real pot friendly state, but would prob. only be a fine.
I go all over the place w/weed and have never had a problem in all the years I've lived here.

This is true, but as I said before I have lived here for 27 years and have been a regular, if not heavy, smoker and don't know any one who has been busted.
What can I say ?

Thank you Twitch. I will be driving from the upper midwest and always carry in the trunk of the car as many states do not even give a ticket if a small amount is not on you or in passenger area of car. Is the BP only on tha Cali side as I have not chosen a route yet and will be entering the state from the north or east side? I live in a very unfriendly town for weed, you will do 30 days in jail for any amount and god help you if you have 2oz or more.

I almost got busted for some really stinky skunk at a Dead show in Arizona once. There were undercover cops in the parking lot. Luckily, for me, the dude I was tokin' with freaked out and started running. All the cops chased after him.

Hey guys!

Uhhh, this story seems somewhat fishy. :?

They have not eliminated any parts of the U.S. constitution lately, right? I mean, they might be able to ask you questions whilst pulled over in your car, but, unless, they clearly see an crime/criminal activity, then, without a warrant, any search and/or seizure amounts to an unlawful search and seizure.

Remember you should NEVER consent to a search and NEVER admit to anything prior to a search. If the cops do not have (or can not get) a search warrant, then after some pleantries, tell them to have a nice day and inform them that, unless they have any further LEGAL reasons to hold you, that you are proceding on your way. :)

If they think that they have a good cause/case, then then can call a judge and try to get the judge to give them a search warrant. If they can not make a reasonable prima facie case to the judge, then a warrant will not be issued. (However, they can, and often do, "judge shop", that is they try several judges until one of them will give them a warrant AND/OR they know some judges who will always cave-in to the cops.) BUT, I don't think they are going to go to that much trouble over a few joints.

A lot of judges would be pissed off if cops were always calling for warrants and very few of the resulting searches resulted in any charges.

I suspect that the reason the cops were "lenient" was because they knew that any half-decent lawyer would get any charges resulting from the seizure thrown out in a heartbeat.

Having said that , though, some cops can be nazi cunts (as in fuck the laws, I'll do what I want) so who knows maybe they would just shoot your ass and dump it in the woods.....no legal problems at all there.

Ingwey Gooblebogger where do you live? Nothing sounded fishy there was a dog involved. The dog stopping at the car gives the officers by law the right to search the car. I do not know where you live but everywhere I have been the advise you give is a good way to get your ass kicked by the cops and thrown in jail. Judges usually believe the cop not the guy busted with drugs no matter how good your lawyer is.

B.P. also on Arizona side and much more of a problem as they might not be as nice on Az. side ..
Like I said take Interstate 10, stay away from Southern route and should never see B.P. Main problem is Southern route.
