I stayed in the Delft apartment which is own by the Green House Effect. It was incredable. Only bad thing was the stairs to get to it. One of my friends that was with me called them the twisted ladder.

You're right, the stairs at GHE are killer, but so are most of the stairs over there

If you like large, large Cognacs in your hotel bar, and space and comfort, I can highly recommend the Avenue Hotel; just ensure you get a ground floor room, on the street.

CAMPING ZEEBURG

Post by tdw121270 »

I've been visiting Amsterdam once a year for the past 15 years and each year I stay at the camping zeeburg in a tent or a cabin. Great palce to chillout. Located on an island which is great, because your surrounded by water. The downside are the mosquitos. You can no longer smoke in the cabins, but each cabin has one or two chairs so you can smoke outside. Staff are great and will go out of their way to help you (have called me taxis on numerous times). The site includes reception, shop, bar, w/c showers €1, laundry, bike/canoe hire, goat and chickens and is only 10 mins from Dam square (Tram 14). Nothing beats smoking a big J of nevilles Haze, listerning to ozric tentacles and knowing that if you want you can just crawl into your tent and spaz out on your camp bed.

Stayed here http://www.estherea.nl/ in the week between last Crimble and New Year, well tasty - however NOT smoker friendly, but well recomended. Was on the top floor, so it was an open window job, with an excellent view and with Kadinsky's just around the corner 8) me and my lady had a really nice time :D

We stayed in the Renaissance Hotel, which is in a primo spot near the train station, on frequent traveler points, but jeez...

1. not smoker friendly but we knew that

2. under renovations, but we knew that too

3. we had to take about 200+ steps and ride 2 elevators in order to get to our room. that was total shite and any trip to the room had to be consider with the fuggin walk from the hotel door to the room in mind. it was worse than staying in NY-NY in Vegas if you know what I mean.

4. everytime we got on the elevator, it seemed we were with some old couple that didn't smoke. but in reality, after the first two or three times, we actually started to have fun with it (we stunk like nothing else).

Bottom line: I am talking to Marriott about how bad it was. I was charge top level for point to stay here and it was definitely not top level worthy. Stay away unless you can address this issue.

Shame on you Bernum! How many hotels are mentioned in a Beatles song?
Verse 3 of "The Ballad of John And Yoko"

Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton,
Talking in our beds for a week.
The newspaper said, "Say what you doing in bed?"
I said, "We're only trying to get us some peace".

The suite in the Amsterdam Hilton also features in a video John Lennon/Yoko made. If you have pots of cash and don't mind the tram journey of 15 mins to get to the Damrak, this hotel is superb !!
