Cannabis Apples?! Serious question.

Although I'm from the US, I've got family down in south Italy in the Campagnia region. A type of apple grows there called the Mella Annurca, or hell-mouth apple. It only grows in this area and is an ancient variety of apple--they found paintings of it on some very old murals in Herculaneum.
They cut the apples off the tree when they are still green, set them in rows on wood chips, turning them daily and basically ripening them in the sun for a few weeks.
The traditional method (been illegal in Italy for years) is to use cannabis plants/leaves instead of wood chips.
I've been wondering for a while, if you prepare the apples this way will you feel the THC? I know it could theoretically be absorbed thru the apple skin during the several weeks of baking in the sun.
Let me know if you think this will work/wouldn't work.

Leaves have minimal THC, sunlight is the enemy of THC and it will break down quickly in direct sunlight and sugar (in the apple) counter-acts the effects

I think flavour could be the reason they do this, no effect are likely to be transferred.
