Sounds like all your answers have been posted. But glad you bought a spoon pipe as i find them great....more so for hash, as i find most of the bowls are too small for even a 1 hit grass pipe for myself.
But i often buy one in Amsterdam for about €7-8 (probably more now) just for smoking hash in. Screens don't fit too well either as the glass is so smooth and gets no grip...but (at home) i usually very lightly rough up a circle at the top of the bowl with some emery paper to give it something to cling to. I know this isn't necessary , just something i do.
I can almost taste the rifman hash through a spoon pipe at 420
