recent trip march 14 to 17

Post by Embraman »

New to this site, thought id put up a wee trip report from my recent visit. Arrived in dam at 6pm needing a smoke after a bumpy flight. Waited 20 mins on a tram, nearly got in a fight with a taxi driver after he put 25 euro on the meter as we set off, so ended walking to rembrantplein raging, carrying me and the wifes cases. Dumped the cases (Eden Hotel-60 euro a night-expedia).

Straight to the wee Greenhouse for a needed smoke. 1g of Hindu kush hit the spot, wife's a non toker so next plan was a drink. Down to Hunter's Bar, got 2g of So Gouda for 20 euro, nice smoke, good buzz. Headed to Burger Bar for some munch after reading good comments on here, nice burger but lousy fries imo, not really here for the food though so next up was Abraxas for 2g of Super Skunk, 2.7g for 20 euro?, not a bad smoke, 5g in 6 hrs hits home though so back to hotel before closing time, unusual for us.

2nd day and straight to my favourite daytime coffeeshop, Amnesia, scored 2g of G13 (28 euro) lovely smoke, cut right through my weed hangover, another plus is the wife now insists on clean shops, comfy seats, decent wc etc, so she is happy just chillin here,(except for the local pest who is always in,what is his story?), sit here for a while, then over to Green Place, a shop i sadly only found 2 yrs ago, get 2g of Jack Herer and AK 47,15 euro each, nice deal. Down to Getto for dinner at night, washed my stash down with some cocktails, people watching on Warmoesstraat, lovely.

Next day,up early and away to Utrecht for the day, wanting to find the cs on a boat id heard about. Asked a local for directions, he told me Andersom/n? was the best cs in town, round the corner so headed here first, got 1.2g of Amnesia Haze for 10 euro, not a bad price and a cracking smoke, really tasty, made my mouth water, shop was a bit scruffy though, so had a couple then off to find the boat. It was only a 10 min walk and found it on the canal right opposite a prison!. Nice homely cs, all wood floors and potted plants, about 80 seats and only 5 locals in, so nice and airy. All organic buds and drinks if thats your thing(inc cola), got 2g of Northern lights for 15 euro, sat and gazed at the jail, listening to the local's(not that i understand!)while the missus read a book. Nice shop, but Utrecht itself was a bit disappointing for us, not many bars/cafes we liked the look of. Think we'll stick to Haarlem for awaydays, like the cs there.

Back to Dam for dinner, then to Hunter's bar for drinks. Got 2g of Chocolope (24 euro) and 2g of LA Confidential (22 euro)again drinking though, so cant really compare, both seemed gorgeous at the time, wiped me out a bit, back to the hotel.

Up early for our last day, enough time for a last blast in Amnesia. Get 2g of Utopia Haze(28 or 30 euro) beautiful smoke, expensive but lovely taste and fx. I always forget to buy hash as its all i smoke at home so round off the trip with 1g of Nepalese(12 euro), again a good smoke, keeps me high even through the sadness of the trek to Central. Another good trip, no bad weed, good weather, counting the days till may, just booked trip 37(i think) for may 12 to 15  .ps Thank You for all your welcome comments, peace.

Some dutch guy (about 50),always asking people to sign his books.Seen him in various shops over the year's,I think Amnesia one of the few that still tolerate him. He freaks out some folk(especially when their baked).I hesitated to call him a "pest" as the guy doesn't bother me and maybe has issue's,just thought i'd mention him in case anyone knew what he's about.I'd ask him his story myself but (like me)he doesn't always make too much sense.Just curious

A little info about this guy, this info came from a friend of mine who lives over there and wanted me to pass this info on:
His name is Jeroem, about 3 years ago, he was mugged by about 10 geezers in the dam one night and nearly lost his life. He was in a coma for about 6 months but came out of it, but with some brain damage.

Hence, he is too friendly with visitors always wanting them to sign his book of art., and to be honest, can be a bit of pain, especially with tourists and locals alike. But one thing I can say is that never, ever cross him-he is strong as shit and built like a brickhouse wall!

He mean's people no harm at all, but it's jus' his way.

A nuisance ...........yes., but a good human being and tell yur mates not to take the piss with him. Milk of human kindness level like. One day it may happen to them!

I met a totally mad man around 50years old at Amnesia during all my trips. An Amnesia's australian budtender told me he is a mental disabledalways there smoking and asking others something to smoke. After 2 hours sitting near him I had to run away because he was driving me to madness but when I am stoned I can tolerate him.He is in my opinion innocuous

Nice write up Embraman--I'm particularly interested in your comment that your good lady is a bit pernickity when it comes to nice toilets and comfy seating etc--I find myself in exactly the same position for my first trip this June---I want my wife to have a good impression of Amsterdam, the logic being if she is impressed she will want to go many more times--so ta for the info on Amnesia--and hey if Amnesia features some guy mumbling incoherrently as you sit trying to chill---I'm a glasgow guy--nothing new to me there. I see you have been over an astounding 37 times--wow------enjoyed your report mate --wp

Solid report, thanks. I'll be on the lookout for that one guy -- I've no memory of him ever in over 20 trips.
Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
