Boat rides - central

Post by bavlondon »

I know there is one in the Liedesplein but I was interested in the one just on damrak opposite the sex museum.

Anyone know how much they charge and if you can smoke on them?

Thanks

me and a mate puulled 2 dutch women years ago and took em on a canal ride 20 euros per person (odds on its gone up). we asked them if they wanted to jion us for a smoke and they totally ignored us for an hour (boat ride was about 2 hours) hated it stuck on a boat on amsterdam and you cannot smoke. i would go for st nicolas boat club which you can smoke on, its cheaper. but it looks like the boats aint ready yet.

me and the mrs went on the one at damrak last sept, think it cost 7e each and lasted about an hour and a half. we went on the one from leidseplein about three and a half years ago,it was a better boat and you could smoke on the back of the boat and it sold drink as well

If i am in town for a week or 2, i like to use the canal bus's, which have various stops around the main attractions, Leidsplien,RembrandtPlien,Dam and down near the museums, get tickets at postoffice or tourist information place, sort of kill 2 birds with one stone, get a boat trip and can get from A 2 B in a more relaxed style. Cant remember how much or if there are more stops or not, i dont think so i think it is just the main area's

I wasn't overly impressed with the canal tour my dad and I took from Damrak. I think it was around €7 each then also, but as said, the boat is all inclosed (with sliding windows) but no smoking is permitted at all.

Next time i would try and find a more 'personal' tour or boat ride. Glad i went, but wouldn't go on the same trip again.
