Recollections from 1 week in early March 2010

Post by damtoker »

I took a trip in early March this year - here’s the memories of it! I took minimal notes - will do better next time!

Day 1 Monday

I arrived at Centraal around 3pm and went straight to Betty Boopwhere I bought 2g of Super Maroc hash for 10 euros. It was nice and tasty and had a mild but uplifting high. I sat upstairs, drinking a can of Coke and smoked 2 spliffs of the Super Maroc. They were playing poppy techno at a medium volume. It wasn’t crowded in there - just a couple of locals on the red couches. I spent an hour or so there, and then carefully navigated the stairs down and out into the Kolk.

Next stop was Abraxas II where I purchased 1g of Apple Jack and a hot chocolate. Carefully climbing the stairs with backpack and chocolate (no mean feat!), I sat down on the rock-hard wooden bench and built another Super Maroc and an Apple Jack spliff and smoked them both. The Apple Jack was an easy smoke, quite fruity and again quite uplifting. Despite the death-trap staircase, I quite like Abraxas II ; friendly tenders and a nice view out on Spuistraat.

Onwards I went to Homegrown Fantasy where I bought 1.5g of Cheese. Didn’t stay to smoke/drink this time, just pocketed the Cheese and walked over to Albert Heijn for some drinks and eats. Also bought a grinder for the weed, and some air-freshener for the hotel room!

Supplies sorted, I walked up Radhuisstraat to the Nadia hotel and checked in. Friendly place, clean, tv/safe/phone. Stairs that would make Sherpa Tensing gasp! Smoker-friendly with discretion (big windows, some balcony rooms etc).

The Cheese was stinking and a lovely smoke! :D

Spent the rest of the evening watching tv, smoking, and thanking no one in particular that Amsterdam exists!

Day 2 Tuesday

Started the day with a couple of Apple Jack spliffs which had a good effect and made me walk a bit!

Ended up at The Dolphins which was almost empty. I bought 1.5g of Jamaican and went downstairs - these stairs are out to get me I’m sure! It was worth the climb down though because the couches here are VERY comfortable! I smoked the Jamaican which was quite dry, probably not 1.5g either, and had a short, but pleasant high.

Next I went to Easytimes and bought 1g of their Bubblegum - fairly sweet but also slightly harsh as I recall.

Ended up in Happy Feelings, got 1g of the Nepal Crème which had a lovely head high and a good flavour to go with it.

Then it was on to Homegrown Fantasy - smoked and chilled watching NZ Voorburgwal life passing by.

Another supermarket trip, then back to hotel for more of the same as last night!

Days 3 - 7 to follow when I can! :)

No photos of this trip, and I didn't write down prices of everything; just a few here and there.

Thanks for the welcomes to the site, and for your comments.

Here's days 3, 4, and 5!

Day 3 Wednesday

I don’t remember what my wake-up toke was, but I had enough energy to walk some!

I went to The Other Side, nice, clean place. I only noticed the sign stating that “Seats only for customers who purchase weed” after I had purchased 3g of their goods! Never mind, I bought 1g of Lebanese hash and 2g of Charas. I got 2 complimentary pre-rolls with the Charas which at the time I thought was a good deal. Can’t remember how much the Leb was, but the Charas was 20 E. Friendly budtender (as well as a good salesman seeing as how I had only wanted 1g of the Charas).

I sat down and smoked the Leb which had a nice high. Quite hard but softened nicely with a quick heating. The Charas was lovely and soft, and had a real top-of-the-head, buzzy high. It definitely hit the spot.

Enjoyed a good time here, particularly as I was entertained by an elderly local who explained to me that Jesus will never return to Earth because we don’t accept him. I smiled and told him at least you do! His exit was very sudden; I suppose I bored him! :?

The Lebanese and Charas had a good energetic effect and I walked to Mellow Yellow in a bit of a haze.

Bought 1g of Amnesia Haze here for about 8.50 E I think. It was a good smoke, nice and sweet, quite trippy.

Met a very nice couple from UK, so sat and chatted with them for a while.

Walked on to 420 Café, didn’t buy smokes, just got a drink and sat listening to some old skool rock whilst smoking Charas and Amnesia Haze spliffs.

Realising I didn’t have any sleepy weed, I popped into Abraxas II and got 1g of White Widow for the night. About 10 E if I remember right.

Then back to the hotel. Tried the “free” pre-rolls from The Other Side - not good! , so put them down to experience and smoked some WW instead. That was quite nice!

Day 4 Thursday

1st stop this morning was Paradox. A very pleasant, simple shop, with a friendly budtender and it also has 5 Euro deals. I opted for 0.6g of Turkish hash which was a fine start to the day. Pale, blond and went deliciously gooey with a flame. Had a great flavour and a medium, buzzy high. Enjoyed a leisurely smoke of it whilst watching locals popping in and out getting their stuff.

I took a stroll over to 420 Café and chilled for a bit before a hop over the way to De Kroon. Didn’t buy in here this time; just drinks and some good talks with a german couple, and a UK couple.

Day 4 seems to have been forgotten as far as buying is concerned because I only noted down the Turkish from Paradox!

It must have been a good day! :D

Day 5 Friday

So the weekend arrives and I re-visit Paradox and purchase 0.4g Chocolope for 5E. It gave a good, up high but nothing particularly amazing. It did prompt me to walk a bit though, and I found myself at Dampkring II. I stayed for a while here and bought 1g of Super Silver Haze which, though not super, was pleasant! It resulted in another walk; this time to Stix in Utrechtsestraat where I was confused by the “push the button” menu, but having worked it out, bought 1.3g Nepalese Temple Ball for about 14E?. Didn’t stay at Stix to smoke as wasn’t feeling the place really. Instead I did a tour of 420 Café, Coffeeshop Ben, and Betty Boop. Didn’t buy in any of them, just smoked stuff I had already amassed. The NTB was good and squidgy, flavoursome, and a nice head high.

Fairly flying by now, I went to Kadinsky off the Damrak, and bought, completely on the spur of the moment, 1g of Big Buddha Cheese. Didn’t stop in Kadinsky as it was crowded. Instead, I went to the death trap stairs of Abraxas II and smoked on the hard bench.

Then on to the supermarket and the hotel where I smoked White Widow and the Big Buddha Cheese which was slightly underwhelming.

Days 6 and 7 to follow.

you certainly get about mate and your honesty is reassuring--these stairs are worrying me--im going over in June and heights are not my thing--I get vertigo standing next to the kerb.

Unlike most other posts you donr seem overly impressed with a lot of the weed you bought--which I also find reassuring, as it it obvious you are a hard to please type of guy---so when you report that such and such weed is real good--then it will be EXCELLENT---keep posting so we can see if you finally get absolutely wasted somewhere
