For a ten day trip the wife and I spend just around a $1,000 each. And that covers everything.

Are you not better trying to get an apartment ? im sure that would be a much more authentic stay ! living like a local ! you can pick up apartments from the region of €70-€100 pn not per person although there are more expensive ones if you wish ? the company i use the most is
http://www.amsterdamstay.com/

Cheers

I booked my apartment through them as well, Cisco and ended up getting 2 nights FREE! We were supposed to check in on Sunday for a week, but I wrote and told them 2 of us would be coming in on Friday, the third on Monday.

I paid for 3 people for the whole week and paid in advance, so the owner of the apartment gave us Friday and Saturday nights at no extra charge - needless to say Blueberry and I were ecstatic because we were going to stay at Rookies to the tune of 170 euro for just those 2 nights. We got an apartment on the Lijbaansgracht for 973 euro. Split 3 ways that's under 500. USD each for 9 days in a nice, smoker friendly apartment with a patio outside the second floor.

Yep Cisco - check this place out. Nice big windows that open in front of the canal and a wonderful terrace in the back with a beautiful view.

I stayed in a $65.00 a night 3 star hotel nothing fancy but it came with a free breakfast , don't go by what i spent because most of it was spent in the Red Light District among other things , you can get by on $100.00 a day or less if your a good boy !
