Confused about amount smoked...help!

I read people talking about buying 10g per day to smoke. Is this normal ?

For a relative beginner who has not smoked for a few years, how many g per day do u think i woudl use? I know its a bit like how long is a piece of string, but just trying to get some idea so i can budget....130 - 150 euro per day just for smoke , seems a lot for a kiwi b0y:)):))

Dude I think you may be over-analysing it You smoke just as much as you feel comfortable with imo. Some people can smoke like chimleys, other's they're gone after the first doob. I'm still a 'Dam virgin so I have no idea what i'm going to be like. I'd say an 1/8 (3.5g) would be a good amount to smoke if you don't smoke a lot in general. First spliff & feeling kained? Just go with it & ride it like a wave

For a light smoker 10 gm would be a lot of smoking for one day.
The herb in the "dam can be very strong, take your time here, read peoples reviews and trip reports, and remember that some folks here are chimneys and some aren't.

The most I have smoked in A'dam in one day was 6 grams. I would be a zombie if I smoked 10 g's a day when I'm usually there more than a week. No pressure smoke as little or as much as you feel comfortable. You'll just be leaving more for the rest of us

No, not normal unless...
-sharing.
-medical reasons.
-built up tolerance and require more.
-smoke everyday, starting the day with a "wake and bake", have an after lunch/dinner smoke, and end with a nice Indica fatty. Depending on the size of the joint or whatever, I would guess 5-7gms per day.
If you mix, you may require a little more. Again, depends on your tolerance level.

For a relative beginner not having smoked in a few years, one can assume (all things considered) that your tolerance to cannabis is low, very low. With some of the strongest gear in the world available in Amsterdam, you should not require much in the way of quantity. IMHO, you will probably be fine with E30-50 a day, which equates to approximately 3-5gms of gear.
All bets are off if you decide to buy hash. Most prices are comparable to top-shelf weed, but the exotics (as I call them) can go for more than E20gm.

the numbers given so far in this topic are 10g per day, 3.5g, 6g and 3-5g ... but in the interest of balance, i am compelled to suggest the lower figure of 1-2 grams per day

i am 63 and a smoker of (pure) cannabis for over 40 years, in my college days in the late 60s four of us would go through an ounce in a week regularly, that works out at 1 gram per person per day

in those days we did not see much or any hashish in the states, it was all weed and all sativa ... but since the weed was sativa we got high and were active, not stoned and glued to a sofa

1 gram per day has been the pattern ever since then ... when i discovered amsterdam i thought the amount i smoked per day would go way up, but as the weed was stronger than usual the one gram per day got me very much higher than usual, so the one gram per day was sufficient

on my last trip in january 2010 i was on my own and when i wasn't out winter walking in the nearby zuid kennemerland national park and smoking a lot by my standards, even then i only averaged just under 2 grams per day

to me the important thing is not how much you smoke but how well you smoke ...

and i would agree with the advice given by balou1999, namely "smoke as little or as much as you feel comfortable"

10 grams a day is a bit much for me, especially if I'm bonging my weed, though I smoke a bit more on holiday. In joints I average about 5 grams a day in Amsterdam. Smoke what's comfortable. It's all about tolerance and quality smoke. There is no competition here.

While I was at one time a daily toker, on my first trip last May I had not smoked in four years so I think I can relate. You may want to NOT do what I did. I started out slow with some Jamaican - got a nice little buzz. Then met up with a forum member and started sampling the stronger stuff -whoa !!!!! Nearly whited on my second doobie

Like many here say, start out slow, take it easy, and enjoy yourself. I was like a "kid in a candy store" collecting bags of weed like they were baseball cards or something that first day. While not a lot by the standards of many here, I was floored to find 15 grams of weed when I emptied my pockets that night. I was in town for 10 days and already had as much weed as I used to smoke in two weeks at the peak of my consumption years before.

On my second trip, I limited myself to one or two purchases a day - usually just a gram each. This worked well for me as it let me visit lots of shops and buy weed on most of my visits.

To answer your question, I'd agree with Stoned and figure on a gram or so per day. Also keep in mind that a lot of the gear that sells for less than 10E / gram is still really strong. I'd be willing to say that if you budgeted say 15-20 euros a day you could have all the weed you'd need.

Looks like we are in town the same time, maybe we will run into each other. I'd love to hear your impressions of your first trip.
