Wow, I can't believe it took this long to get to write again! We are having a deck debacle in our backyard and other ridiculous things like that... On the bright side, I get to spend loads of cash on wooden structures! Anyway. I digress...

Saturday, 3.27.10-

Mary is going home today and we are sad to see her leave. She is loads of fun and high energy. Which can be very motivating at times (and very tiring at others!).

We do need to get her coat back and return the other one, so we decide to go to the Noordermarket and poke around that part of town till she leaves around 2pm. (She is getting a limo to the airport -it's nice to be an executive, BTW, she is flying business class, I'm so jealous)

Mary comes to 99 to smoke before we go to the market. It's a beautiful day and love walking by the canals on the way to Noordermarket. I love all the cheeses and breads on display so I have to buy some for later and for brekkie.

I find this beautiful, red 1888 Scottish edition of The Spanish Inquisition for my husband. (We are rare and antiquarian book collectors). It's an old joke between us, because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! A perfect present for an awesome guy.

We amble through the market, buying stuff and it's now time for lunch. The girls want to eat at Barneys so we can smoke and it sounds like a plan. I run into Dampkring to grab some hash. Didn't write down what kind, lame notes! But I think I got some more rifman habibi cause I love it so much! I notice a trend, the more i smoke & buy, the less i write down. It is so civilized to smoke a jay and bowl of hash while waiting for your food to come. and after the meal, it helps with digestion, right? Mary is carrying on about not getting too high before the plane ride because she doesn't want to look stoned. She is taking home some "souviniers." I remember telling her that by the time she gets on the plane she'll wish she was high. But she orders like 3 dark beers. I guess being a little drunk is OK though. AJ and I of course proceed to smoke alot more and before I know it, I am ordering a vanilla milkshake! Yum! :o

We leave Barneys to go to the restaurant where Mary took the wrong coat. And now we realize that we forgot to bring the wrong coat with us to swap it back. We are such a bunch of stoner losers! This is bad karma for sure, but we promise Mary that we will bring it back before we go home on Monday. Mary and AJ go inside and I , of course, shoot the whole episode unfolding. They come out looking triumphant, Mary's coat was still hanging (all alone) in the coatroom. No one in the restaurant saw as they went to the coatroom. They grabbed the coat, hysterically laughing. We walk Mary back to her hotel, with sendoffs of hugs and kisses and we go back to drop off all of our purchases at 99.

After smoking some pot and hash, Aj and I decide to go to this antique market (called Looiser something, something). Its a nice walk there, checking out all the great A-dam sights. It is a huge place but I don't see anything that strikes my fancy.

We walk over to Sanementareng to check it out. AJ thinks it is a dump but we stay and just buy some drinks. It's busy in here but Bob Marley is playing so how bad can that be? We go up the steep 5 steps and of course I spill my coffee on my hand. But rolling, smoking and chilling has us both relaxed and ready to move on. It's time to go home and figure out what we should do for the evening.

I need to buy a couple of more little presents, so I drag AJ to the RLD in search of cheap souviniers. But first a stop at Wok to Walk. We fill up on chicken and veggies in terriyaki sauce. Man, I wish we had one in the states. We check out some headshops to get some grinders for presents. We check out the ladies. It's a gorgeous night out and we wonder around. The canals have lots of swans and even though there were lots of red windows nearby, I snap a bunch of photos of the swans. Nobody seems to freak out on me but I am wary.

My notes stop here for the night, so if I remember what we did after this, I'll edit, but this is it for now. I'll try to finish soon.

well we need to find out what happened to the wrong coat ... did it get back to its own hook? ... did it ever get back to its owner? ... did you get home ok? ... when are you going back?

We were neighbors! I actually never heard it called that.

I don't live there anymore (nearish, how bout you?) but it has definately permeated my soul (for good or ill).

I hope I get to finish my trip report...
