Amsterdam By Night (Coffeeshop Video)

Post by Saxon »

Apologies if this video has been posted here before. In 1995, Channel 4 had a night's tv dedicated to cannabis in the UK and part of that night was a short film about Amsterdam's coffeeshops. The film was called Amsterdam By Night. Somebody has uploaded it to youtube from vhs and below are links to the film in four parts. It's about 25 minutes long in total and is an interesting view of how coffeeshops were in the mid 90's and is also quite funny in parts.

Amsterdam By Night part 1
Amsterdam By Night part 2
Amsterdam By Night part 3
Amsterdam By Night part 4

By the way, the coffeeshop that features a lot, especially in the first parts, is called Lucky Mothers. Unfortunately it closed down more than 10 years ago.
Also, notice how often the term 'skunk' is used? In the UK, 'skunk' is generally used to refer to all indoor grown high THC weed and this use to be the case in The Netherlands as well, before the term Nederwiet became popular.
