Get this. One mate going with me was coming to the UK first from Malaga tody and was due to fly out to dam tomorrow. He had to cancel that and he could only get space on a direct malaga to dam flight tomorrow morning at like 6am uk time.

I don't think we will hear anything until like 7AM UK time so it may well be that he is there on his own for the trip.

I can move mine to next weekend but then id be on my own too.

both belfast airports say no flights until 7am fri,,,,subject to review

There is another option for me. National express coach from Victoria. Only £45.. could get that. Wouldn't get there till late mind you like 22:30 local time but still id get there.....

I'm trying to stay optimistic and rely on Twichaldinho's good karma but this looks bad. Not the kind of volcano I was expecting to feature this weekend. My only hope is that flights start again tomorrow morning and that the backlog has been cleared in time for our flight on Saturday. It looks like the ferries and tunnel will be oversubscribed if this continues so there may be no backup plan.

The customers in the backlog will have to find room on later flights so hopefully if it does resume tomorrow then tomorrows flights will be ok.

The thing with this is because it can cause such damage to the engine they will wait until there is not a trace left. Not sure if the amount of smoke there is indicative of the actual ash but i'm sure they are testing for ash levels. But the point is they will wait till later rather than sooner to make sure it's completely clear.

I don't know if this is comparable but how long did the smoke from 9/11 take to clear? Wasn't it something like 4 days?

Anyway let's see what they say at 20:00.

Can I join the karma bus please, meant to be flying Saturday am and early too, if this keeps up I will spending 420 at home, getting seriously chonged.

I pray that all of us can get to our destination ok but for now I guess watch this airspace.

I am flying from Jersey, C.I. so depending on the airlines. Not leaving until 19th, so maybe OK. Fingers crossed for all of you travelling before.

We were left stranded today, supposed to be flying out at 5:20 from Edinburgh. I feel really sorry for all those who were at the airport for the 7:30 flight to the Dam this morning, as the cloud was absolutely nowhere near UK (or Dutch) airspace at that time. I appreciate the safety concerns but ffs, they were way over the top in their reaction. They could have had flights heading South, leaving up til around 3 this afternoon from Scottish airports.

Hope the rest of you manage to make it over. We're just gonna make do with a half oz of green and a w/e in Oban

One guy we were meeting there managed to leave the UK at around 08:00 today, he was on KLM. At that point BA had already cancelled their flights.

My flight from Finland looks to be cancelled also, due to VOLCANO, lol.
Hoping i could make it on saturday at least, cayse i really wanna see the Mighty Crown vs SuperSonic clash in Enschede, saturday...

All flights from the southampton airport are all cancelled until 1pm tomorrow, and then there is no saying they will start again then.

Flights from other uk airports are not looking good for tomorrow, it said on the news earlier that the volcano was still producing a lot of smoke etc, this could go on for days yet, and could scupper a lot of our plans/trips.

We all have to keep the good karma faith, and pray for the best.

I wonder if the UK carriers were more concerned about stranding passengers abroad over the weekend, than flying their planes
